Cotton brought 10 1-4 cents on the
Gaffney market yesterday. Quite a
number of bales were sold.
There were 284 bales of cotton,
weighed here Thursday and 286 on |
| Friday. The rise in the price contin- j
I ues to bring it in from all parts of the |
county.
There were several cases in the j
mayor’s court yesterday morning, all
1 for disorderly conduct. Three were
fined $2.00 each; one, $3.00, another
$10.00, and two were dismissed.

Death of Harry Shuford.
The following from the San Bernar
dino. Cal., Sun of July 1st, will be of
interest to Gaffney people, as Mr. and
Mrs. Shuford were once residents of
this city:
‘ The death of Harry, the little son
of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shuford, oc
curred yesterday afternoon at their
home in Waterman avenue. The fu
neral will be held from the home this
atfornoon at 4 o’clock. Rev. Mark B.
Shaw officiating. The Baptist choir
will sing.
The Shuford family has been seri
ously afflicted with illness of late.
Mrs. Shuford has been in the hospital
for some time, while Mr. Shuford has
also been ill and confined to bis home.
Added to this now is the death of
their little one.”
Mr. Shuford’s friends in this part
of the country deeply sympathize with
him and his family in their trouble.

Mr. H. J. Lancaster, of Spartanburg,
have formed a partnership to repre-

ance Co., of Binghampton. N. Y., as
general agents for this State.
The general agency headquarters
will ho in Spartanburg, but Mr. Ligon
will continue to spend most of his
time in this part of his territory.
Mr. Ligon is succeeding most not

this latest promotion of his is very
gratifying to iiis friends.

Colored Odd Fellows’ Day.
The colored Odd Fellows of Gaffney
are preparing to have a gay time on
the 28th and 29th inst. The day of
the 28th will be spent at Limestone
Springs park, and there will be two
nights of amusement at the M. E. hall.
A game of ball will be played be
tween Gaffney and Spartanburg on
the ground at Limestone, and meats
and refreshments will be sold at both
places.
