'C. ROSS. BLOODSHED NEAR MARS BLUFF. Two Negroes Quarrel Over Women— One is Killed. Florence, July 5.—Near Mars Bluff late yesterday afternoon, Sam Wind ham, of Darlington, and Crocket Davis, both colored, became involved in a (lifiiculty over some women, and Davis shot and killed Windham. During the trouble Crocket Davis was also shot seriosuly and will probably die. Coro ner Cooper is at Mars Bluff this af ternoon holding the inquest over Wind ham’s body. Davis is under arrest and will he brought here and placed in jail as soon as he can he moved, should he survive the wound. The row occurred at a picnic, and there was a general mix-up among the colored population during the shooting affray. The dead body of Grant Clemons, alias Frank Henderson, colored, was found lying beside the railroad tracks, near the tobacco factory, in East Florence, yesterday morning, and, in the absence of the coroner. Magistrate R. S. Smith empanneled a jury of in quest, who viewed the remains and adjourned until this afternoon. Foul play was suspected and one Jim Ford has been arrested, as it was thought that Henderson was poisoned, and Ford was suspected of being the guilty party. The stomach of the dead man is being analyzed by a physician to see if there are any traces of poison before the coroner’s jury acts.
