Garrett’s birthday, which the young

Miss Ida Todd has been unanimously
elected first assistant of the school in!
Johnson, Edgefield county. We are glad
to hear of her honor and that she gets
a larger salary than when here. She
is a fine teacher and we regret to
seo her leave Gaffney.
There will he a Children's Day ser
vice at the Buford Streot Methodist
church Sunday morning instead of the
regular morning service. All are cor
dially invited to attend. There will
be no preaching Sunday night on ac
count of the absence of the pastor.

Prof. W. C. McArthur Elected.
At a meeting held Tuesday in Dr. J.
F. Garrett’s office, secretary of the
board of trustees of the Gaffney
graded schools, Prof. W. Claude Mc
Arthur was elected superintendent of
the schools, and Miss Nannie Cora
Richardson assistant. There were
several applicants for the office of su
perintendent, one being from Alabama.
Prof. McArthur is a model young
man, and his high character and fine
mental training well fit him for the
duties of his responsible position.
Miss Richardson has had long expe
rience in teaching and will make a
competent instructor in the school.
