Is Economy
an Object
to You?
Economy, at the expense of
quality, is extravagance. The
“ Howard” is a piano of quali
ty, but economy in its con
struction is practiced by elimi
nating costly ornamentation.
It is modest, but refined; plain,
but solid and reliable. Fully
warranted by us.

shot into the caboose and the bail
struck Mr. Gaffney right over the left
eye. inflicting a painful, though not
serious, wound. The ball glanced on
the hone of his forehead, splitting the
skin nearly an inch, hut doing no fur
ther injury, except a considerable
shock. The many friends of Mr. Gaff
ney in this city will he pleased to learn
that the wound was not of sufficient
consequence to stop him from his
work .
Wanted in Union.
Saturday a young white man was ar
rested here and lodged in jail to
await the coming of an officer from
Union, where he was “wanted," the
charge against him being disturbing
religious worship. The young man

uor. which led to his trouble; and
though the services were being held
at a private residence, his offense may
prove quite a serious one. After the
disturbance he tied to this place,
where he was arrested, as stated.
Officer Mosely came up from Union
and carried the young man hack yes
terday, to stand his trial.

The Park Fountain.
The figure for the fountain at the |
park has come and is being placed in
proper position. It is made entirely
of bronze, and is the figure of a boy
standing in a basin with a smaller ba-
-in on his head through which a spray
or runs. When it is placed in position
and the water connections made, it
wi'J make a pretty ornament for the
pa rk.
Mayor Gaffney says he doesn’t in
tend to stop until he has the grounds
in perfect order.
