A horse ran away with Baxter Har
vey Tuesday afternoon and ran into
J. H. Curry’s buggy. The buggy was
smashed up, but no one was hurt.

Ellie Parker has moved his bicycle
shop from the rear of J. R. Toleson’s

There will be an election in school
disuict No. 14, in Morgan township,
on the 20th inst.. to authorize a spec
ial tax of two mills for school pur
poses.
On last Friday Mr. Griffin, the mill
er at the old furnace place near
Maud, while in the city, had the mis
fortune to get one of his legs broken !
by his horse rnuning away and throw- j
ing him out of his wagon.
The rite of Baptism was adminis- j
tered to a number of young people at |
the First Baptist church and also the
Cherokee Avenue Baptist church Sun-1
day night, being the result of the re
cent revival meetings held in this I
city.
Tho Ledger is indebted to Mr. Al
bert Kirby for the first cherries of
the season. They were delicious. Mr.
Kirby although young is one of Chero-1
kee’s best farmers—a kind of horti-1
culturalist—and is meeting with won
derful success.

First Daptist Church Notes.
Dr. Simms will fill his pulpit Sab
bath morning at 11 o’clock.’ The
Lord’s Memorial will he observed by
J the church in a special service at 5
o’clock to which all members and visi
ting Baptists are invited. Dr. Simms
is anxious to see tho church members
all present on this occasion. There
will be no services at night.
