My New York experience:—I bought some
Shirts from a Mr. Hope in New York. Mr.
Hope, as his name implies, belongs to that
class of people who hardly ever gets left. His
legitimate business is shirt goods. He had
sold a lot of shirt goods to a manufacturer
who went “broke” soon after making the
goods up into shirts, and Mr. Hope was in
great trouble because he had to take the shirts
to try to get his money out of them.
He telegraphed me would I take the shirts
