The millinery openings of thlo
week have made one think the spring
season is on us. The stores are pret
ty and tempting in their array of
fashions. Dainty flowers and silken
ribbons, with other sheer fabrics,
make a lovely display.
The parasols this season show a
great absence of frills. They are em
broidered and trimmed in many
ways, but there is less rufiling upon
them and there are fewer flounces
around the edge. There is a tenden
cy towards the plain parasol, and a
liking for the one that is plain, ex
cept for its embroidery panels.
There are many kinds of parasols
this season, But the popular kind
are those that are made of satin tat
feta, heavy open worked linen pon
gee, and of the handsomely figured
silks. All the handles are very long,
and one has a chance to decorate
the handle with floating streamers of
j silk ribbon or with a handsome satin
! chon. Perhaps the latter is the neai-
i est for city wear, and it is the orna-
| ment that wears the best.
