There was a big crowd of people
from the country in town Saturday,
and business with all merchants was

was burned to death last Thursday.
It was burled at Prospect church

J. F. Fincken has opened up a nice
line of staple and fancy groceries in
the storeroom next to Suber’s “Kandy
Kitchen.”

Broad Gaines has just completed a
nice job of sign work on the wall of
the building occupied by W. J. Wilk
ins & Co.
Miss Renie Codd, an experienced
milliner, has arrived in the city to
take charge of W. .1. Wilkins & Co.’s
millinery department.
Mrs. W. N. Austell has moved her
millinery goods to the building for
merly occupied by the Gaffney Drug
company; and she has a nice line of
everything in ladies’ headwear.
For the Public Library.
The entertainment for the benefit of
the public library will take place on
next Thursday evening, 23rd inst.
Doors will open at 7:30 o'clock, per
formance begins at 8 o clock. Admls-1
sion 25 cents. Children 10 cents.
In addition to the music, songs and
recitations, there will he a spirited de-
btae by the hoys. Also some "side
shows” for the children and “men of!
larger growth.”
By request of some of the mothers,
the serving of refreshments will be
