Next Monday, March 6th, Is sales-
day.
The cotton market'here yesterday!
was 7% for the best. The receipts
wore light, however.
Sunday was an ideal day, bright,
warm and springlike, and the services
at the different churches were largely
attended.
The school over in Fairvlew which;
the Gaffney Manufacturing company
has been maintaining, was closed yes
terday for awhile. Rev. L. R. Gaines
has been the principal.
The usual Saturday and Sunday sin
ners wore conspicuous by their ab
sence at the mayor’s court room yes
terday morning. Cnief I,ockhart says
that Gaffney is a “mighty quiet place”
now.
There was no service in the Presby
terian church Sunday, as the pastor,
Rev. W. R. Potter, was out of the city.
Street Overseer Cook is having
some piping placed across Limestone
street opposite the Parish Hotel.
Carroll & Co., lessees of the Lime
stone Springs Lime Works, are begin
ning to receive more orders for lime,
now that the weather is becoming
more favorable for building and all
outside work.
Isham W. Richardson is now in the
grocery department of W. C. Carpen
ter's store on Granard street, where
he will be pleased to welcome his
old friends and to meet many new
ones.

CHEROKEE DRUG COMPANY
The Crescent Stock Company open
ed up in the Star Theatre last night
for a week’s engagement. A fair
sized audience witnessed the renda-
tion of the Morman four-act play
“l ltih,” and everyone was higly pleas
ed with the initial performance. The
company is a good one, and is com
posed of real artists in their profes
sion. The Hawthone Sisters are
especially good and clever, and they
are well received wherever they make
their appearance. Interesting and
pleasing specialties are introduced be
tween acts, thus making the enter
tainment a continuous one with no
long waits between acts. The com
pany should do a good business here.
BUTTERY
If big freezes indicate good << craps ,, we may certainly
expect a fine one, with no cut worms, boll weevils, “tater”
bugs or cabbage bugs to molest. Fact is, all the bugs are
“friz” up, except the humbugs- You can’t freeze them
out, the best way is to stay away from them and take
