A LOVELY HOME WEDDING. Miss Louise Jefferies and Mr. Geo. H. Burbage Made One for Life. Yesterday morning at k;:>0 o’clock Miss Louiae Jefferies, of this city, and Mr. George Hubert Burbage, of St. Paul, were united in marriage. The c remony was performed by Ur. A. M. Simms, pastor of the First Baptist, church, at the beautiful home of the bride’s mother on Limestone street, only the immediate family and a few friends being present. The night before the marriage a re ception was held at the family resi dence in honor of the visiting guests, which w..s largely attended by the elhe of the city. The parlors, recep tion rooms and halls were beautifully and artistically decorated for the ecca- sion in holly, with berries, ferns, pot plants and white carnations, the color schemes of green and red. and green ?nd white being carried out in every detail. * The dining-room wan a perfect bower of carnations, ferns, smilax and aspar agus. the tables, sideboards and man tel-; being draped in the richest pro fusion, the color scheme here being green and white. The menu was sumptuous and elegant in the extreme, the ic« s being gremi and white, and tiie guests were served in a handsome and dainty manner by fair hands that tended to make the delicacies even more lucious and tempting. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mrs. M. If. Jefferies and a sister o. Clerk of Court J. Eh. Jefferies, and is very popular among her associates, being bright, vivacious and pretty. The groom is an enterprising young business man of St. Paul, S. C. He is manager of the Clarendon Cotton Oil Co., at that place, and was for some time head bookkeeper of th- Southern Cotton Oil Co., with head quarters at Columbia. The bridal party left on No. 2ft for points south and will be at home at St. Paul after January 10th. 1905. Among the out of town guests were: Miss Burbage, Conway; Mr. J. F. Jefferies, Star Farm; John Jefferies. - A “Spider Web’’ Party. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd L. Baker enter tained some of their friends Tuesday evening with a “spider web” party, a the residence of Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Osborne; the occasion being in honor of Miss Nancye Stevens, of Bal timore. The “scheme” of the affair was a net work of colored cords, crossed and re crossed and running in every conceiv able direction, with a small souvenir on the ends, the object being for each guest to select a string, follow it to the end and get the article attached to it. This exceedingly novel method of entertainment furnished much amuse- iiM-iit for the participants. Excellent refreshments were served and the evening was most enjoyably spent by a!! who attended. For the convenience of the people og Gaffney and vicinity, we publish below a correct schedule of the ar rival at Gaffney of the passenger trains on the Southern railroad: GOING SOUTH No. 29 arrives at 9:10 A. M. No. 27 arrives at ...10:57 A. M. No. 11 arrives at 2:52 P. M. No. 97 arrives at 0:43 P. M. No. 35 arrives at 11:50 P. M. GOING NORTH No. 30 arrives at 7:22 A. M. No. 12 arrives at 4:40 P. M. No. 38 arrives at 0:40 P. M. No. 40 arrives at 8:20 P. M. No. 97 is a mail train only, and Nos. 37 and 38 are “the vestibules;” and none of the three stops at Gaffney. Election of Officers. At a meeting of the Woodmen of the World Tuesday bight the follow ing officers were elected for the on- suing year: Capt. J. B. Bell, consul commander; \V H. Ross, P. Ross, G. W. Elmore, J C Phillips, managers. The lodge has about sixty members, j and several more applications for j membership are pending. Our Friends Mr. Galloway Leaves. W. W. Galloway went to Milledge-j ville, Ga., Monday, where he will fiill; the position as bookkeeper with SamT l Evnas Sons & Company, cotton factors 1 and supply merchants. His family will follow him later. Mr. Galloway has been the efficient bookkeeper for Messrs. Carroll, Car-: penter & Byers, in this city, for a long rime. We regret to have him leave Gaffney, but our best wishes go with him to his new home. and Customers Clary-Kirby. Mr. A. \V. Clary and Miss Della Kir by, both of this city, were married last Sunday at 11'a. m. at the home of Rev. Twitty Thompson, that rever end gentleman officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Clary are now at the home of the groom, hut in a few days they will go to housekeeping in the country about three miles from Gaff ney. We wish them a happy and pros perous life. A Small Blaze. There was a small fire Thursday night at Mrs. R. S. Lipscomb’s board ing house on Frederick street. Some wood lying near a stove in Mrs. Thompson’s room became ignited by the heat from the stove and the flames soon spread to the wood-work around the fireplace. The fire was put out, however, before much damage had been done. First Baptist Church Notes. Dr. Simms will fill his pulpit as usu al next Sabbath. It will be his first anniversay as pastor. He will speak in the morning on a subject appropriate to the new year. Service also at 7 p. m. Visitors and strangers cordially invited to worship with the congregation. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W. T. Thompson in the presence of a large number of friends. There have been several cases of ‘drunk and disorderly” btfore the mayor since our last issue. The fines ranged from $5 to $10. Killed On the Southern. Monday night Mr. Lindsay Lucas, of Shelby, who was a flagman on th“ vestibule, on the Southern Railway, was killed between Atlanta and Green ville.
