The cat was purchased by some of the young men of the town, and yesterday morn ing he was taken up in the country a mile or two for a race with about u dozen dogs. The animal was some what stiff from confinement, am! slightly wounded in one foot by a stee trap, in which he was caught, and consequently, he was not in a condi tion to run much, or fight for his life. The race was a short one, and when the dogs drew near their prey, the an imal turned on them and showed fight. He was soon killed, however, and only one of the dogs was hurt; and he only slightly. The boys had some little difficulty in getting the cat out of his box, as his fierce growls forbade too much familiarity with him, and warned them to "keep their distance." Game of Football.
