The Chrysanthemum show, arrang
ed by the ladies of this city, will be
held in the Star Theatre on Friday,
November 4th, from 3 to 11 p. m., and
Saturday, 5th, from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m.
The premiums to be awarded are
as follows:

An Old Coin.
Mr. W. J. McGill, of King’s Creek,
was a visitor to The Ledger office
Wednesday.
While here Mr. McGill showed us
an old Spanish coin which he had
found in his deceased father’s effects,
and which had become blackened by
age or rough usage. One of the fig
ures in the date was rather unintelli-
j gible, but the year of issuance seemed
to be 1297, and Mr. McGill was cer
tain that that was correct. The re
verse side bore the inscription, “Caro
lus IIII.”
At any rate, the coin was a very an
cient one, and the owner prizes it
highly, both because of its age and be
cause it had been in his family for
two or three generations.
