Men and Women of All Ages,
I CAN CURE YOU!
THE M. M. CLUB.
CLIFTON CHRONICLES.
The specialist is now Indispensable. In all walks of life there is a demand for the man
who can do one particular thing better than any one else, and such a man is one who has confined
his endeavor to, and centered all of his energy and ability on the specialty he has chosen for hie
life's work.
Early in my professional career I realized that Chronic Diseases were not being given the
attention which their importance warranted. I saw that these diseases required a special fii-
ness which the busy practitioner could never acquire. For more than twenty years I have de
voted myself exclusively to the study and treatment of these diseases, and the fact that physi
cians recommend me to their patients is an evidence of my skill and ability in my special line. I
give special counsel to physicians with obstinate and obscure cases.
I have devoted particular attention to chronic diseases of men and women, and no othtt
class of disease requires more intelligent and expert treatment. It is a fact that a majority of
men owe the seriousness of their condition to improper treatment, and a failure to realize the
importance of placing their case in the hands of a skilled andexp 61-1 specialist.
Nervous Debility

DR. HATHAWAY.
Recognized as the Leading and
Most Successful Specialist in
His line in the United States.
Overindulgence, indiscretions and excesses are not the only
causes of an impairment of sexual strencth. Such a derange
ment frequently comes from worry, overwork, mental strain,
etc., which gradually weakens and injures the system before the unfortunate victim realizes
the true nature of his trouble. Nervousness, weak back, dizziness, loss of memory, spots before
the eyes, despondency, etc., often are the first symptoms of an impairment of manly vigor, and if
neglected serious results are sure to follow. I want to talk to every man who has any of these
symptoms of weakening of his manly functions. I can promptly correct all irregularities, and
under my skillful treatment you will have restored all of the strength and glory of your man
hood. Whether you consult me or not, do not jeopardize your health by experimenting with
ready-made medicines, free samples, so-called quick cures, etc., as the most delicate organs of
the body are involved, and only an expert should be entrusted with your case. Send for free
booklet, “ Nervous Debility and Its Family of Ills."
Stricture
My cure for this disease is gentle and painless, and often causes no detention from business or other duties. It involves
no cutting or dangerous surgical operation. Improper treatment will result in serious injury. 1 give each case individ
ual attention, and treat its every requirement. Every obstruction is removed, and all discharge soon ceases, infiamma-
tion and soreness is allayed and the canal heals up promptly and permanently. Send for free book on Stricture.
This disease is the enlargement of veins of the scrotum, which fill with stagnant blood, causing a constant drain upon
the vitality. It weakens the entire system and saps away all sexual strength. 1 cure this disease with the same uni-

any other disease, and their strength is being drained away without their knowing the cause. Come to me at once if you think you are afflict
ed' and learn the cause of your trouble. Send for free booklet on Varicocele.
This horrible disease is no longer incurable, and when I say that I can cure the most severe case I do so because f
know just what my treatment has accomplished. If you have sores, pimples, blotches, sore throat, pains in the
Blood Poison bones, falling hairlor any symptoms which you do not understand, it Is'lmportant that you consult me at once, and
1 will tell you frankly whether or not you are an unfortunate victim. I will guarantee to cure you without the use of strong and injurious
dregs in as quick, if not quicker, time than any known treatment. My cure is a permanent one, and is not mere patchwork, and the disease
will be eradicated from the system forever. Send for my free booklet, "The Poison King.”

Give a Delightful Dance at Blacksburg
Friday Evening.
Blacksburg, June 28.—The M. M.
Club gave a delightful dance Friday
evening. The dance was in the
Fherokee Inn hall and was chaper
oned by Mrs. Hudgens, Mrs. Gaden,
Mr. and Mrs. Belue, Mr. and Mrs. O.
A. Osborne. Young America was
filled with gaiety and one had only
to pass the hall to see that all pres
ent were enjoying themselves.
It was an evening that will linger
in the minds of those who attended
for a long time.
The following couples were pres
ent: Miss Lucy Thompson with Mr.
Luther Davis; Miss R. Gaden with
Mr. Furman Belue; Miss Edith Ga
den with Mr. Frank Deal; Miss
Louise Carpenter, of Rutherfordton,
N. C., with Mr. Hugh Davidson;
Misses Guyton with Mr. Herbert
Ryne; Miss Dot Urquhart with Mr.
Livy Caldwell, of Due West; Miss
Hossie Greenskade and Miss Mary
Anderson with Mr. Will Anderson;
Miss Gaston and Miss Hopper with
Mr. Roy Osborne; Miss Bessie Rhine-
hardt with Mr. Oreh Moore; Misses
Pollock with Dr. Montgomery; Miss
Marion Logan, of Yorkville, with Mr.
L. Davis; Miss Ramseur with Mr.
Richard Thomson.
The participants, as if loath to
leave the place of amusement, con
tinued dancing until the "wee sma’ ”
hours of the morning.
At twelve o’clock delightful re
freshments were served.
Miss Louise Carpenter, of Ruther
fordton, N. C., after spending some
time with Miss Lucy Thompson, re
turned to her home Saturday morn
ing.
Miss Marion Logan, of Yorkville,
returned to her home this morning,
after an extended visit to Miss Mabel
Ramseur, of this city.
Miss Julia Guyton spent Sunday
with her parents at this place, and re
turned this morning to Spartanburg,
at which place she is completing a
course in the Converse Business Col
lege.
Messrs. Frank Deal and Oren

short pleasure trip to Wilmington, N.

Twelve-year-old Girl Drowned While
In aBthing.
Clifton, June 25.—Yesterday about
3 p. m., Walter, the twelve-year-old
son of Mr. Jas. Spearman, was drown
ed while bathing with other boys, in
Pacolet river below No. 1 mill. The
body was recovered about thirty
minutes later and every effort was
made to restore life, but all proved
fruitless. The remains were buried
this afternoon at Mt. Zion church in
the presence of quite a number of
people. Rev. J. W. Elkins conducted
the funeral exercises. To the bereav
ed family we extend our warmest
sympathies.
This section was greatly blessed
with copious showers of refreshing
rain, during the past week, though
accompanied by heavy winds and de
structive hail in some localities.
Farmers are greatly encouraged by
the present prospects for their crops.
The dry weather afforded a great op
portunity for “getting a start of the
grass,” and they availed themselves
of it right well.
Wheat is all cut and Is said to be
a fine yield, but acreage was too
small.
Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Sparks enter
tained some friends with an ice
cream supper this evening, which
was a delightful treat during such a
warm spell of weather.
Mrs. A. J. Cobb, formerly of Clif
ton and Pacolet, but late of Moul-
trieville, Ga., died at the latter place
last night and will be brought here
tomorrow at 4 p. m., for burial on
Monday.
Little Hoyt, the two-year-old son of
Rev. and Mrs. T. H. Harrison, has
been quite sick for nearly two
months, suffering from some disease
similar to indigestion, and from
which, it seems he is making very
slow recovery.
A vast amount of fish (and some
very fine ones) has been caught
during the t last three months at this
place. It seems as if fish has been
more plentiful for the last twelve
months—ever since the destructive
freshet of last year—than in many
years of the past.

RYDALE’S TONIC
A REAL CURE FOR
ZMTA.L-A.IRiIJL.
It has recently been discovered that
the germs that produce Malaria, breed
and multiply in the intestines and from
there spread throughout the system
by means of the blood. This fact ex
plains why Malaria is hard to cure by
the old method of treatment. Quinine,
Iron, etc., stimulate the nerves and
build up the blood, but do not destroy
the germs that cause the disease.
Rydale’s Tonic has a specific effect
upon the intestines and bowels, freeing
them from all disease breeding mi
crobes. It also kills the germs that
infest the veins and arteries. It drives
from the blood all poisonous matter
and makes it rich and healthy.
RYDALE’S TONIC is a blood
builder, a nerve restorer, and a Malaria
destroyer. Try it, it will not disap
point you.

North Pacolet Interdenominational
Sunday School Convention met at
Gethsemane on last Sunday. The
chaplain, Rev. Simpson Blanton, con
ducted the devotional exercises; after
which the president, Bro. J. L. Strain,
took charge. After roll call the pro
gram was taken up.
First query was discussion of re
ports of different schools; discussed
! by Bro. Wm. Jefferies.
2nd query: “What constitutes a
model Sunday school teacher?” Dis-
i cussed by Bros. J. L. Strain, Ed Clary,
J. A. Hames and Wm. Jefferies.
3rd query: “By which does the
teacher wield the greatest iniluence,
his precept or his example?” Dis
cussed by T. M. Littlejohn and Wm.
Jefferies.
A class of little boys and girls then
gave the convention an instructive
lesson in the catechism, and a song,
which was appreciated by all pres
ent. This class was conducted by
Bro. E. J. Green.
Next a recess of one hour, after
which a little girl five years old ap
peared before the convention and an
swered eight lessons in the cate
chism, only missing three questions.
The last query was then taken up:
' Is missions properly taught in our
: Sunday schools?” Discussed by J.
L. Strain, W. D. Kirby and E. J.
Clary.
Miscellaneous business was then
taken up. The place of next meet
ing was discussed, and Rehoboth was
decided upon as the place on fourth
Sunday in September.
The convention then adjourned.

Thousands Have Kidney Trouble

How To Find Out.
Fill a bottle or common glass with your j

What to Do.
There is comfort in the knowledge so

Root, the great kidney remedy fulfills every
wish in curing rheumatism, pain in the
back, kidneys, liver, bladder and every part'
of the urinary passage. It corrects Inability
to hold water and scalding pain in passing
it, or bad effects following use of liquor,
wine or beer, and overcomes that unpleasant
necessity of being compelled to go often
during the day, and to get up many times
during the night. The mild and the extra
