Aim here first and you will buy. The Dixie Clothing and Shoe Store ^ ^ WE ^ ^ COMMITTEE MEETING. Campaign for Candidates Arranged for August. The county Democratic executive committee met in the courthouse on Saturday the 25th inst. and was call ed to order by County Chairman J. B. Bell. The roll was called and a quorum was present. S. R. Thackston moved to have only one campaign meeting in a township. A. Harris moved to have two meet ings in each township. The motion was seconded. W. H. Hardin moved to amend the Harris motion and only have one meeting in a township, the meetings to begin on August 15th. It was then moved to have seven meetings in the county, two in Lime stone township. The motion of Mr. Harris and Mr. Hardin’s amendment were voted down and the motion to have seven meetings—two in Limestone town ship—was carried. It was then moved and carried that the chair appoint a committee of six to arrange a schedule of the cam paign meetings. The following were appointed: Cherokee, J. R. Dickson; Drayton- ville, J. W. Alexander; Gowdeysville, J. E. Gault; Morgan, A. Harris; Limestone, J. D. Jones; White Plains, J. B. Carter. The committee reported as follows, which was adopted: Blacksburg, August 18th. Grassy Pond, August 19th. Macedonia, August 20th. Ravenna. August 22nd. Timber Ridge, August 23rd. Owens Ford, August 24th. Gaffney, August 29th. Dr. McKown moved that whenever ' it was brought to the attention of the county chairman that a barbecue is to be held at any of the official meetings, that the chairman be au thorized and instructed to call said meeting off. The motion was car ried. On motion of N. W. Hardin, the chair appointed a committee of three to fix the assessments of candidates. The chair apopinted J. W. Alexanler, Dr. McKown and J. R. Dickson on this committee. It reported the fol lowing, which was adopted: Candidates for Congress $15.00 Candidates for Solicitor 12.00 Candidates for Supervisor 5.00 Candidates for ’Treasurer 10.00 Candidates for Supt. Education 10.00 Candidates for Legislature C.00 It was moved, seconded and carried that the ladies be invited to attend the meetings, bring dinner and have a basket picnic. It was moved that the chairman get the Cherokee News to print the tickets and any advertising matter, or get some one out of the county to do the work. Motion carried. It was moved and seconded that all candidates for magistrate enter the primary, and inasmuch as they are not assessed that they furnish their own tickets. It was moved and carried that each candidate file his pledge and lAiy his assessment on or before the 17th day of August. It was moved and carried that G. W. Speer be treasurer.
