Have Brought Intelligence of Disastrous Hurricane by Which Great Damage Resulted. Saigon, French Indo-China May 4.— A hurricane ravaged Cochin-China on May 1. About one hundred natives were killed and great damage was done. All the telegraph lines in Saigon were destroyed. May 4.—Sam Parks, the New York labor leader, who was sent to Sing Sing prison some months after his conviction on charges of extortion, died in the pris on today. New York, May 4.—At fhe prelimi nary hearing of John A. Benson, the wealthy Californian landowner, before United States Commissioner Shield’s Attorney Platt, for the defendant, has made serious charges against federal officials. Mr. Benson and Frederick A.
