Take Allens Compound Extract of Celery
with Peptonate of Iron.
It makes weak people strong. It strengthens the nerves, re
stores the torpid liver to its normal condition, gives tone to
the stomach, produces a healty appetite, sound digestion,
clear skin and a vigorous body.
This remedy is presented purely on its merits. It has not
been evolved from the dream of any American Indian nor
does it come heralded by the rosy claims of any distinguish
ed foreigner, hut it is simply a prescription of an eminent
and experienced physician who has found it valuable iu the
class of diseases for which it is recommeuded.
This medicine sells everywhere for fi.oo per bottle, but iu
order to introduce it iu Gaffney, we will sell it for a short
time at 75c.

Recital at Limestone.
A very interesting recital will be
given in the college auditorium at
Limestone on next Monday evening
at 8 o’clock The director of music
will be assisted by Miss Georgie
Steedly and some of the music stu
dents. The program will include some
1 popular vocal selections and the in-
I strumental portion will be of the usual
high class character -given there.
This will be a treat for lovers of
high-class music, and a large crowd
from Gaffney should attend the re
cital.
Mr. P. H. Peeler called to see us
Saturday and showed us a Spanish
coin about the size of a silver dollar, j
It was copper and was made in
181G. Mr. Peeler told us it had been
in his family for more than half a
century.
L. H. Cobb, of Cherokee Falls, has
a Poland China sow two years old
that has had thirty-four pigs in the
last eleven months. This is pretty
good work for the sow, fortunate for
Mr. Cobb, and encouraging to hog
raisers generally.
Mr. Worth Little’s handsome new
residence corner of Johnson and
Rutledge streets is nearly finished.
It is of the most modern design and
appointments, and when finished will
be one of the most imposing and con
venient homes in the city.
A merchant in this city was bother
ed last week by a lot of negroes lying
upon his window sills every morning.
He thought to break this up, he would
cover his sills with molasses, which
he did. He says about the time he
thought his scheme was working well,
he saw a little negro lick up the mo-
lases and take a seat.
Mr. Johu T. Hames, one of Gaff
ney’s most worthy citizens, left last
night for Oklahoma, where he will
make his future home. He carries
with him the respect »nd best wishes j|
of all our people for his future hap
piness and prosperity. His family
will follow him in two of three weeks. |
John Hames is a gentleman.

The first thin# that helps
to make your year’s work
in the garden profitable, is
to get fresh, reliable seed—
the kind you cau be sure of

ful to buy seed from grow
ers who have reputations
for raising good see<L. You
cannot tell the character of
a seed by looking at it, so
you have to rely ou the
dealer. The seeds we car-
rv are all of last year's
raising. In planting them
you can 1>e sure of a good
crop and of the exact vari
ety you want. They cost
no more than the uncer
tain kind.

The Limestone Mill Sells Cotton.
For some months the Limestone
Mill has been running full time day
and night, and bought sufficient cot
ton sometime ago to keep up day and
night operation til! next crop.
The management last week seeing
more money in selling a part of its
cotton at the prevailing high price,
than running at night and making it
into cloth, sold a block of cotton and
will on April the 1st, stop night work.
This mill is in fine condition, having
enough cotton left to run full time,
day run, till next fall, and the best of
it all is, it was bought at a price that
seems powerfully cheap now.
