We are glad to see a picture of him surround ed by his force, in The Ledger of Feb ruary 10th. Ledger is one of the neatest, as well as one of the ablest edited papers that shows its bright face in this sanctum weekly. It has just begun its eleventh year. Bro. DeCamp is to be congratulated upon his successful work. The Ledger is one of the brightest country papers that come to this office. We are ever glad to see it when it comes. What it says makes us always feel that some thing is coming right out straight from the shoulder. There ought to be more such papers in South Carolina. We wish there were.—Spartanburg Herald. A Shining Success. The Gaffney, S.C., Ledger is edited and practically owned by Mr. Ed. H. DeCamp, who tells, In its last issue, which was its tenth anniversary, a vivid and interesting storj of Ms and its ups and downs. He started it as a four-page weekly, it is now' an eight- page semi-weekly, anda shining suc cess. It is printed at one dollar a year, which is just one-half what its subscription price should be, hut it atones in a measure for this by requir ing that every subscriber pay in ad vance and by lopping off every man when the time he has paid for expires. The rule applies to priest and peasant; to everybody alike. It is a good one, and The Ledger proves that it pays. DeCamp was raised in Charlotte and The Observer, for reasons of its own, feels a singular interest in him. He "parasites,” but they seem to w'ork in : harmoniuos competition with eacl other for the best interests of the j town. Now. with a few of the “gent ler sex” intermingling with Gaffney's i "hustlers” to give them nerve and tone, my impression is that she is des- ) tined to a marvelous success. Second, if the readers of this arti cle will permit me to change the ques tion “How do you like your church?” ; to “How do you like the spiritual tone I of Gaffney?” I will answer thus: This question is not so easily decided and yet I am proud to say that I am impressed that the moral and spirit ual elements predominate, and that therefore Gaffney is sure of a perma nent Christian education in the future. Soon after my arrival I was glad to notice how the First Baptist, First Methodist and the Presbyterian churches honored the spirit of Christ when Dr. Simms was installed as pas tor of the First Baptist church. May such worthy examples drive sectarian narrowness off the earth. Now’, as to the original question, “How do you like your church?” I will say in a few words, that I love Limestone street church because it represents Christ and what Method ism stands for. It is true that it is rather poor to be called a station, but Here's to You, Brother Marshall.
