There Is a movement on foot for a
cotton mill at Earls in Cleveland
oounty, N. C. Messrs. J. I. Sarratt
and E. S. Thomason of this city are
the promoters. They are both good
business men with sufficient means
to put the enterprise iu motion.
Prof. W. L. Johnson left Saturday
morniog and will resume bis travel
ing for D. H. Baldwin & Co. of Cin
cinnati, manufacturers of pianos.
Prof. Johnson is an accomplished
musician, and having the deserved
confidenoe of all, success awaits him.
Our old friends, Joe' Price and
James Jolly, of Ezell, wbo were un
able to he present and deceive their
Croeeee of Honor from the Daughters
of the Confederacy on Lee'e birthday,
came to the city Saturday and re
ceived them. They wear them
worthily.
Our old friend S. Q. Sarratt is not
only one of the moet successful far

bogs and cattle. He has sold $240 00
worth of cows, eince October. Be
