Some thief broke a light out of one
of the windows of Mr. R. M. Jolly’s
dining-room Saturday night, so the
latch could be worked, and then
raised the sash and went into the
dining-room and pantry and stole
therefrom a sack of hour, one ham
and several articles of food, and car
ried them away. Some time Sunday
morning some of the things were
found in a nearby stable, but so far
the thief is at large and nothing has
occurred to indicate who he is.

John Henderson, a colored boy
about fourteen years old, was arres
ted here Friday by United States
Deputy Marshal Goforth and carried ,
before U. S. Commissioner Bell,
charged with opening and destroying
a letter that be knew contained
money, and taking the money, which
was given him by Postmaster Folger
to be delivered to Dora Littlejohn,
