The Ferguson Stock Co., who will
be at the Star Theatre on Thursday,
Friday and Saturday nights of this
week, are breaking all house records
for attendance wherever they play.
This company is really a city show,
only playing a few of the smaller
towns to break long jumps. The pa
pers of Knoxville Tenn , where they
played all last week, were unanimous
in their praise of them, saying that it
*ras one of the very best repertoire
companies now on the road New
music, scenery, costumes and special
ties; their motto, "always the besf.”
is lived up to at all times
The Greenville Daily Niws had the
following to say of the Ferguson
Stock Co., while they were filiinK an
engagement in that city :
"If popular appreciation counts for
anything, and it certainly does, the
Ferguson Stock Company, which
opened its engagement at the Grand
last night, is one of the best organi
zations ever seen here at repertoire
prices. There was a crowded house
and during the evening the entire
company received many curtain calls,
which is unusual at such productions
The bid was ‘In Sunny Tennessee,’
in which there was a story of human
interest, running through every act.
Toe individual work was excellent,
and from the beginning it is a settled
fact that the patronage will be all
that could be asked.
"There were first class specialty
features by the Rumley sisters and
Dupont, which were cleverly ren
dered. These will be changed at
every performance. They were good
and they made a big hit ”
The opening bill will be the cele
brated comedy-drama "Down on the
Farm,” a play full of interest, with
sentiment, pathos and humor run
ning all through. New and clever
specialties given between the acts by
high-class specialty artists.

Two Small Wreck*.
There was a wreck on the Southern
Saturday night about 12 o’clock.
As the second section of freight train
No. 72 struck the down grade be
tween here and Broad river, a portion
of it became uncoupled and some
what separated from the front por
tion oi the train, but in going down
the grade the detached portion
caught up with the front portion of
the train and ran into it causing
the wreck of several cars and a delay
of traffic for six or seven hours.
On Sunday night there was an
other small wreck between here and
Thiokety. but we were unable to get
particulars. Traffic was delayed
several hours by it.
Hall (iranted.
Col. T. B. Butler appeared before
Judge Gage in Cheater Saturday and
applied for bail for Murry and Mc
Combs, who are in the county jail
here charged with the murder of
Smith Inman. Solicitor Henry rep
resented the State. After bearing
both sides Judge Gage granted bail
in the case of Murry in the sum of
$(100 00 and in the case of McCombs
11000.00.
Miss Sarah Coe, a daughter of Col.
H L. Coe, died at the home of her
father at Asheville, N. 0., Thursday
and her body was brought to Blacks
burg and burfed Saturday. The fun
eral services were conducted by Rev.
W. R. Potter, of this city. Col. Coe
has mmy friends in Gaffney who ex |
tend to him and his family their sin
cere sympathy in his sal bereave
ment.
