Now, there are many ways that stone road can be built: one way is like the Captain has advised; and another is like some one else has ad vised. I could go on and mention several plans for building a stone road.. Now. 1 do not claim to be an ex pert in road building My experi ence in road building is that the plan that a man by the name of McAdams adopted is really the best plan to build stone roads. Now. the most essential part in building is drainage. I do not agree with tbe Captain and his plan alto gether. As he is a road builder. I guess he practices what he preaches. I have been passing over some road on the Union road leading out of town I think that kind of road is too rough. It would incur extra expense in regard to the wear of our wagons and buggies. I notice wag ons that pass that part of the road drive down a gully in order to shun that part of the road. Now, I will give my plan for build ing a stone road. They are a misery to them selves and all who are connected with them. This class of people have ears that are made wrong. They are too small for the paternal ancestor of a mule and they will not lop like a cur’s. Chief Justice Pope has rescinded bis order forjudge Townsend to hold court at Lexington and appointed Judge Gary. Education is what we need and education is what we must have if we expect to expand in the proper direction. Educate the soul, tbe heart, the body as well as the mind. The facilities for education offered by the free school system of this county eliminate the necessity of any boy or girl growing up in utter ignorance. Therefore, we say, it is tbe duty of every parent or guardian to see that tbe child under bis or her care re ceive tbe benefits of the same. The government has done its part. To use a slang phrase, “It’s up to” the parent or guardian. One of tbe most distressing sights to be witnessed in this town is that which occasionally presents itself at the corner of Frederick and Lime stone streets. Let me hear from any district wanting such aid, es pecially the large school districts—Nos. 15,12, 4,16, 22 and the smaller ones where there is only one white school.
