The olio, the public may feel assured, will be stronger than ever carried by this company on their previous visits, which includes several Euro pean novelties that are sensational. The parade of the Golfers together with the Great Barlow Hussars will be seen in their usual noonday outi ng on the principal streets of this city on the date of the performance, which is next Tbusday at the iStar Theatre for one night. Owing to the similarity in names (f this organization “The Great Barlow Minstrels” and others touring the country the management of the above company wish to notify the minstrel- loving people of this city, that. The Great Barlow Minstrels have been touring the country since the year of 1878 and have never had in any way shape or form any connection what ever with an organization that is at the present time touring under the title of Barlow <fc Wilson. The com pany referred to are but a few years old, and owing to the similarity in names, the public are cautioned, and thus enabling the public to judge for themselves as to the merits of these two distinct organizations. Sweet singers, funny comedians, buck and wing dancers, as well as vaudeville artists as good us the best, elaborate scenery, handsome cos tumes, gives one but a faint idea of what the Great Barlow Minstrels will present. The public may be assured that the performance of this season will be the best ever presented by this company. Note—I have known Mr. Coburn, the manager of the Great Barlow Minstrels for several years, and can conscientiously say that he will give Gaffney theatre goers a treat in min strelsy. He is a high-toned, honorable gentleman.—Ed. DEATH AT LIMESTONE. Our Dummy Kiiglno. The dummy engine of the Lime stone Springs Lime Co., which has been laid up about a month for re pairs, is now in running order again and has been put back into regular service. The engine recei/td a com plete overhauling and repainting, many new parts were added, and the machine is equal in quality and ap pearance to a new one.—Gaffney Led ger. This is the old dummy that used to ornament the streets of Rock Hill. —Rock Hill Herald. Our esteemed contemporary has the facts slightly mixed. Our dummy engine is no second-class affair— neither is it second-handed, as the present owners bought it direct from the manufacturers. Mrs. Susan Turner, an Aged Lady, Died at Her Home There Yesterday Morning, Mrs. Susao Turner died yesterday morning about 7 o’clock at the home of,her son, Mr. Fred Turner, at Lime stone, after a lingering illneas. She was about seventy-three years of age. Sometime lust winter she bud a stroke of paralysis, and about t wo weeks ago another, and while she partially recovered from the first attack, she had been quite an invalid all the year. Mrs. Turner was a Miss Snead be fore marriage, a sister of Mr. N. C. Snead, of this city, and was born and reared near Cro-s Anchor, in Union county. She married Mr. C. P. Turner, who was then living in the Cross Anchor neighborhood, and about 1856 they moved to Limestone, where they have since resided. Mr. Turner, the husband, passed away several years ago, and after bis death Mrs. Turner made her home with some one of her boys. Six out of nine children survive their parents. The living are: Jas. H. Turner. Nat 8. Turner, Fred V. Turner, Ed. 8. Turner. Will N. Tur ner and Mrs. Fannie Kilgo, wife of Rev. John C. Kilgo, of North Caro lina. Messrs. James. Fred and Ed. live at Lim«stone, and Will N. In this city, while Nat S. now resides in Covington, Georgia, where he is in the cotton business. Mrs. Turner was a good Chrisiian woman—one noted for her piety and great kindness to the poor and needy. Her boys are all steady, upright, manly men, and she was proud of them, as well she might be. The funeral services will be con ducted at the residence of Mr. Frtd Turner tnis (Friuay) afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, end the remains will then be interred in Oakland cemetery. A SericM of Meetingx. Rev. R. G. McLees, of Greenwood, will hold a series of meetings at the Presbyterian church beginning on Sunday, the 20th, inst., at eleven o’clock. Mr. McLees is a clear, simple and interesting preacher. He is not a sensationaltis and uses no ’’clap-trap” methods. He preaches only the pure gospel. The public is most cordially invit ed to come to these services. Mr. McLees will be here only a week. There will be two services each during the week, at 4 p. m. and at 8 p. m. Preparatory services to this meet ing will be conducted on next Wed nesday Thursday and Friday evenings at 8 o’clock. There will be qo preaching at tbe Presbyterian church next Sabbath, as the pastor will be at Blacksburg. What Is Life? In fie last analysis nobody knows, but we do know that it is under strict law.
