Both were colored. There was a picnic at Draytonville Mountain Wednesday. Quite a num ber of young people attended and a most enjoyable outing was had by those who participated. Work is progressing on Cline & Jefferies’ new livery stable or. Robin son street. It will be a large and commodious structure and a model of convenience when finished. J. C. Ratliff, of The Battery, has returned from the northern markets, and he says the railroad irons will be , kept hot for some time delivering the new goods he bought while away. Lumbermen are placing material on Mr. George Garrett Byer.-’ lot ot Race street fora handsome residence. Mr. and Mrs. Byers will go to house keeping when their new home is com pleted. The Southern Railway is building a side track and a coal chute at the electric power house. The dummy line has been moved over twelve feet to give room for the new side track and chute. Mr. Worth Little has purchased the handsome residence lot corner Race street and Rutledge avenue and will erect thereon a modern residence with all the latest improvements Mr. Little is ready to let the contract as soon as he can find a contractor. Every contractor in town has his hands full just at present. Storm Turadtiy Night. Gaffney and vicinity were visited Tuesday night by a thunder and electric storm, accompanied by a good raic. The electric lights were put out by the burning out of the f use and fc r the remainder of the night the city was in total darkness, except for kerosene lamps in resi dences.
