The liveliest man in the court house was Cashion and he appeared as if be would rather be somewhere else, but when the judge let him down with a sentence of twelve months, a smile crossed his countenance as he return ed to his seat from the prisoner’s box and he seemed well satisfied with his treatment. Of course business was dispatched but it had more the ap pearance of being freighted. The hot June sun was no doubt responsible for the lethargy displayed and the newspaper reporters shared in the general laziness. We have passed on all bills banded ! us by the solicitor according to the evidence that came before us. We appointed a committee to in- »pect the jail and they report that it is cleanly kept and all prisoners ap parently well cared for. We examined the office of the sup erintendent of education and found it kept in a neat and convenient man ner. The committee that was appointed at the last term of court to exathine the home of the poor went there some time back and found the home clean ly kept, and there were nineteen in mates, all well cared for. We found that a suitable dining room was needed and recommend that the board of commissioners erect one as early as possible. We also recom mend that the board furnish some help as cook, because the present one cannot do the work necessary. Also the supervisor should ditch the farm so as to prevent it from washing. We have examined the court house and grounds, and all the offices, and find them neat and well kept. The sheriff’s office has been supplied with a good safe, the treasurer’s has been en larged and Improved with a large desk and neat Iron guard; also the clerk’s office has been supplied with new desk and shelves and fire-proof vault; said vault is furnished with a complete electric and telephone system. We have examined the report of the county supervisor and to the best of our knowledge find the same cor rect, but recommend that all future reports bear date and number of voucher with each item. The county treasurer bss furnished s neat and complete report of all the work of bis office, showing receipts and expenditures, report which shows the county treasury in good financial condition.
