Preached to a Large Congregation at Bu
ford Street Church Sunday.
Dr. Jno. C. Kilgo, president of
Trinity College, preached to a large
ongregation at 11 a. m., on “The
Ascension of Christ.” He took the
position that preachers and leaders
should always be ahead of their peo
ple. He made an earnest plea for
Christian charity and a broader spirit
of toleration.
At night Mr. Steadman preached to
a large congregation on the subject
of “Christian Duty.” This was the
first sermon of the series for the
special services. The personal re
sponsibility of the individual Christ
ian was stressed. The world judges
men by their conduct, and not by
their profession.
Every church has some members
who neutralize to a certain extent the
work of the church. How often God’s
cause has to contend not only with
“the world, flesh and the Devil,” but
with the inconsistent church mem
ber. Often the artillery of the church
when trained |on the strongholds of
Satan, is spiked by those who profess
to be followers of God. Men who have
to be tagged to tell which side they
are on.
Services will he held at 4:30 p. m.
and 8:15 p. m. each day during the
week. Mr. Steadman atked the co
operation of the Christian peonle of
the town. Rev. W. R. Potter and
Rev. A. C. Cree were both present
and many of their congregations.
On Thursday at 4:30 p. m. there
will be “A Mother’s Meeting.” and
on Friday and Saturday p. m. at 4:30
there will be special services for the
children. But these services will
not be confined to these classes, but
the public is cordially invited to at
tend all services.
Mr. Steadman closed the announce
ments with these requests: “Pray
for the meetings, come to the meet
ings yourself and use your inflence to
get others to come.”

A most enjoyable social function
was the German given last Friday
evening at the Commercial Hotel.
The young folks enjoyed themselves
splendidly. The following pro
gramme was carried out without a
bitch, to the delight of the partici

Robbery at Limestone Mills Store,
A thief or thieves broke into the
Limestone Mills Company store
Thursday night and broke open the
money drawer, took it and its
contents out and threw them in a
wheat patch nearjby. There were only
a few dollars in the drawer and the
thieves took less than a dollar with
them. Sheriff Thomas and Officer
Hallman took the sheriff’s dogs to
the place Friday morning and they
took the track and trailed it some dis
tance but as the thieves had been
gone six or seven hours and the
morning was very dry, they could not
follow them. If any goods were
stolen they have not been missed. So
the thieves are away and may never
be caught, but they have less tl.an a
dollar of stolen money with them to
ever remind them that they are
rogues.
