Mrs. H. I’ridmore was a charming
hostess Friday afternoon when she
gave a five o’clock tea to her lady
friends in honor of Mrs. H C. Scott,
of Washington, and Mrs. J. Brohawo.
of Baltimore.
Delightful refreshments were
served, consisting of salads, breads
cheese straws, pickles etc. The ices
and cakes were in pink and white,
the colors being effectively carried
out. The guests who departed re
luctantly were: Mrs H. C. S:ott, of
Washington; Mrs. J. Brohawn, of
Baltimore; Mesdames S Hopper,

Dr. Lem G Broughton passed
through Gaffney Friday night on his
way to Raleigh, N. 0., where he goes
to spend a few days with relatives
before sailing for the Old World.
From Raleigh he will proceed to New
York, and on next Saturday will
begin bis voyage on the steamer
Trave of the North German-Lloyd
line.
Dr. Broughton is making this voy
age for a much-needed rest and to
recuperate his failing health. He
has many frit nds in Gaffney who wish
for him re«*tore;i health, a pleasant
I voyage and a safe return.
