Cantrill, King of Ghouls, Grows An gry on Witness Stand. Indianapolis, Feb. 5.—At the trial of J. C. Alexander, indicted on charges of grave robbing, an effort was made today to unravel some of the stories that have been told in regard to tha murder of Doc Lung, a Chinese laur- dryman. Some of the grave robbei r under arrest, it has been said, knew something about the murder. Attorney Spaan asked Rufus Can- trill, the negro and confessed kin; of ghouls, on the witness stand if h; had not had a convexsation at th? jail with one of the gx-ave robbers with regard to the killing of the Chinese. Cantrill said he Lad not, and then added angrily: “Let them tell what they know about the killing of Doc Lung, if they want to” Doc Bailey struck out this testi mony. The court room was packed with spectators. Ca’ntrill was cross-examined and showed much spirit, and the attorneys for the prosecution were apprehensive that he would lose his temper. Attorney Lpaan was not satisfied with one of Cantrlll’s answere and ho told the negro that he would not argue with him. “And I don't want to argue with you,” the negro said in a surly man ner. Cantrill said he had been pres ent when the Doehring grave was opened. He denied that he had tele phoned Dr. Anderson in October “not to worry, that I was paid for doing this, and that you would come out all right.” Cantrill at the request of Attorney Spaan gave the names of Henry Mar tin. Walter Daniels, William Jones, Letov Williams, Walter Williams, 1 Sham Donnell and Burford Colley a : members of the grave robbers’ band.
