A wise plan is to wait until the standards of fashion are definitely settled before deciding upon your very best costume. Plan a “between seasons" skirt and coat costume, one of camel’s hair cheviot in mixed shades or solid colors. All of these fabrics will be worn through fall and winter. Gaffney is in Spartan burg this week. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ Mrs. R. E. McGraw and daughter, Maud, have gone to Charlotte to visit Mr. L L. Sarratt. The ice cream supper given by the ladies of the First Baptist church was a complete success. There was a prize offered to the young ladies whose table was most successful. Misses Louise Jefferies and Volina Hamrick were the winners. These young ladies were earnest workers for the cause aud well merited their suc cess. Death of D. O. Long. [Greenville News.) A telegram was received in the city Monday afternoon from Atlanta an nouncing the death of D. O. Long, which occurred at nuou Monday at his home in that city. Mr. Long was at one time a resi dent of Greenville and will be remem bered by the older residents of the city. About eight years ago, how ever, he moved to Gaffney and after wards to Atlanta, where he has since resided. W. A Long and Mies Lida Long, ot Greenville, are brother and sister to the deceased, besides there are a number of other relatives in this city. The deceased was the father of Or lando C. Long, a young insurance man who visited this city several weeks ago. [Mr. Long is well remembered in Gaffney by his many friends who ex tend sympathy to his bereaved fam ily.] Beautify lug Oaklaud The city authorities are now clean ing off Oakland cemetery at consider able expense to the city, and it is their earnest desire that all parties owning private lots in the cemetery go to work at once and clean off their lots so the whole of the ground will present the appearance which it is so desirable for it to attain. Oakland should be, aud is, the pride of the city, and a united effort now will make it su ornament, and evince at the same time our love for our dear ones who are resting in it. One Minute Gough Cure For Coughs, Colds and Croup. An Ordinance To Regulate the Carrying, Manufacturing and Sale of Pistols. Be It ordained by the Town Council of Gaffney in Council assembled and by au thority of the same: Section 1. That from and after the pas sage of this ordldance It shall be unlawful for any one to carry about the person, whether concealed or not. any pistol less than twenty Inches long and three (3) pounds In weight. And it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to manufacture, sell or offer for sale or tri<nsport for sale or use into this State any pistol of less length and weight. Provided this act shall not ap ply to peace officers in the actual discharge of their duties or to carrying or keeping of pistols by persons while on their own premises. Sec. 2. Any person found guilty of viola- lion of Section 1. herein, shall be fined in the sum, not more than one hundred (flOO) dol lars nor less than one ($1) dollar, or Imprisoned not less than one day nor more than thirty days. Sec. 3. In case it shall appear to the sat isfaction of the Mayor or Mayor pro tern be fore whom such an offender Is tried that the defendant bad good reasons to fear Injury to the person or property and carried said weapon to protect himself or property lie may in bis discretion suspend sentence.
