A charming afternoon toilette is
fashioned of cream yoile of the softest
quality and the preference for tacks
is clearly evidenced. The waist has
a deep yoke effect of horizontal tacks
alternating with inset bands of black
lace and below this the lace and tucks
run lengthwise. A soft rosette of
mi
liberty satin ribbon is placed at the
left side. The elbow sleeves are
trimmed with rutiles. The same idea
is followed iu tbe skirt which falls in
very graceful and artistic lines. Cor>
ticelli siik is used in tbe making of
this costume.
For earlier spring voile and silk aod
wool materials are very much liked,
embroidered, uni. spotted faintly or
striped, iu short in every form and
shape and color these delicate fabrics
still bold tbelr own. the favorite color
being a delicate yellowish-buff tint
shading to cream Gray is always
welcomed by tbe sartorial powers,just
now a faint shade of dove color pre-
domioatiug. There is another color

running to purple, a trifle heavy per

The Thursday afternoon club met
last week with Miss Inez Sarratt.—
there were three tables. The first

Mrs. Gooding carrying off the booty.
Light refreibments were daintily
served.
The young people enjoyed a de
lightful dance Tuesday night, and
tripped the light fantastic toe, until
the wee small hours.
Gone to Texas.
Rev. Amos Clary left the city
Wednesday for Hartley, Texas, where
he has accepted a call to take charge
of some churches in that section.
We are sorry to have Mr. Clary
leave us, but he goes at tne call of
duty. He is well equipped for his
high calling, and his great piety and
high character assures us that he
will take a stand in the west that we
will be proud of.
The New City Hall.
It has been definitely determined
to build a new city hall. The plans
were submitted to the mayor and al
dermen Tuesday. A few changes in
the plans were suggested and after
they are made the work will be pro
ceeded with at once. The building
will be iocatea on the corner of
Meadow aod Limestone streets, and
will be up-to-date iu all reepecta.
