The Democratic clubs of Cherokee
held their meetings Saturday. The
attendance at each club was fairly
good and considerable interest was
manifested.
GAFFNEY PRECINCT.
The club was called to order at 2
p. m. Saturday by president Moses
Wood. J. B. Bell was elected tem

On motion these otficers were elected
permanent officers of the club.
A committee was appointed to sug
gest delegates to the county conven
tion, and the report of the commit
tee was adopted, and the following

The Blacksburg Democratic club
was organized by electing £. A. Sa-
pocb, president, and Dr. J. T. Dar
win, vice-president, and J. W. Duff,
secretary.
The following resolution, on motion
of X. VV. Hardin, Ksq., was passed
unanimously: That it is the sense
of this club, that no one who is a
candidate, or intends to be, for any
county or State office, shall at the
same time hold the office of county
chairman, secretary or treasurer or a
member of the Mate executive com
mittee.
It was tbe opinion of the club that
the constitution of tbe party should
be attended so as to require the can
didates for the various offices to sign
a pledge that they would abide by,
adhere to,'and advocate tbe prin
ciples as annunciated by the party.
Doubtless delegates will be sent to
the State convention, so instructed.

convention at Gaffney on tbe 5th of

A. J. McCraw, D. L. Allison and J. J.
Magness.

Dickson, with Kide Hardin alternate.
The Democrats of the Macedonia
precinct met and perfected an organ
ization by electing A. Harris, presi
dent; A S. Smith, vice-president: L.
B. Davis, corresponding secretary.
The regular committees, one on reg
istration, an executive committee and
i one on enrolling members of the
club. Mr. A. Harris was elected a
member of the county executive com
mittee. The following delegates were
then elected to the county conven
tion: L. B. Davis, A. Harris, W. D.
Byars and A. 8. Smith.

Mayor’s Court.
There was u good turnout of both
defendants and spectators at the
epayor’s court yesterday morning,
and while tbe defendants were num-
rous their offences were not very
grave, and|His Honor contented him
self with a joint contribution to the
city’s cash box of $97 and allowed one
offender to undertake a job of twenty
: days service on tbe city cltain gang.
