Mayor Little Dispenses .Justice to a Num
ber of Sunday Law Breakers.
fcsince Mayor Little was inducted
into office he has been having easy
sailing. Old ard new offenders
seemed to have marie up their minds
to keep from before him. But yes
terday morning he was confronted
with a docket that would have locked
large in a court of sessions in the
good old days. The Saturday night
and Sunday sinners were on hand in
greet shape.
The first case called was
against Johnson Oglesby,
Dawkins Morgan Smith,
Smith, Onuie Manning and Martin
Bridges for gambling. It didn’t tak^
Iona to go through this crowd of
dusky gentry, and the sing e dusky
damsel also.
Johnson Oglesby, Morgan Smith
and Andrew Smith were each given
au option on five dollars or ten days
on the stree.s. Oglesby and Morgan
Smith having had luck ou their side,
turned in their fines. Andrew being
unfortunate took the days. Dawk s
and Bridges were acquitted, but Ou*
nie had to chip in $2 00 or take five
days.
Betsy Anderson, an old and
chronic sinner, was allowed to pay
ijil 00 or two days.
The next to appear were two of our
colored fellow citizens right from
dudedom. They rodo their bicycles
on the wrong tra<k and therefore
were gently amk ‘d to turn over $2 00
each or join the good roads train for
five days. They came down with
the dough.
One lone drunk was on the docket.
A cash deposit was on hand, but the
man was not. The deposit stayed.
One dusky damsel His Honor
thought had transgressed beyond his
jurisdiction. He turned her over to
a magistrate.
