On Friday niirtit. Mured 7th, a se ries of meetings will be begun at the Limestone Presbyterian church. The preaching will be done by the Rev. Dr. Edward O Guerrant. There will be two services daily, at 10:30 a. m., and 7:45 p. m., except ►on Saturday sight, when the service will be omitted. The Sabbath ser vices will be held at 3 p m and 7 45 p m. No preaching at 11 o’clock, but services a 1 -the other churches al that hour. The Kev. E 0. (Juerrant is a Frenchman, that is, his parents were French-Huguenots He kas the dis tinctive characteristic* of his ances tors. He himself is a native of Vir ginia. His home in now iu Kentucky. He wa* at one time the pastor of First Presbyteriau church of Louis-j viile, ivy., but in order to do evangc* | iistic work he resigned that charge and took a country church iu the heart of the famous Biuegrase region of Kentucky. He is the president of j the Soul-Winners’ Society, an organ ization which is non-denominational, and though but a little more than two years old, has spread the Gospel far and wide and won many souls to Christ. Dr. Guerrant is an enthusiastic ex- Confederate, His war stories are very affecting. His appeals to his old comrades in arms are most pathetic, and many a battle-scarred veteran has be persuaded to fight for a nobler cause than tbat in which was lost an arm or limb Another class that he is particularly interested iu are the children; many are the young people that have been converted under his preaching. But he preaches to no •pecial class, but to all. He is com ing here, not to preach to the Pres byterian church, but to all the church es, and invites the presence and co operation of all. He simply preaches the Gospel— tells the old story, yet iu unique and original way—and entreats the Spirit to apply it to the hearts and con sciences of his hearers. He is a fiery, fluent, rapid, eloquent sneaker, but not sensational. He makes very few propositions, sometimes none at ail, bat allows his audience to be led, swayed and influenced, not by excite ment, but by the Truth. Everywhere be has gone preaching the Gospel, bis efforts have been bless ed to the conversion of souls and quick eaing of God’s people. We cannot foretell what the outcome of the meet ing in Gaffney will be, but we are tfure that all who come to these ser vices will receive a blessing. itev. W. The Richvd&on shops, corner of Limestone and Biruie streets have served the purposes for which they were intended well in the past, but they are no longer the thing on such prominent property in Gaffney. They had to give place to newer ideas and are gone to suburban streets where they will be assigned a new job, and the place that first knew them will don more modern and stately edifices. This beautiful corner will as scon as the spring opens, have a fine block of brick baildinge erected on it. It will contain three storee on the first floor and the second floor will be fit ted up for living or office purposes in a handsome and elaborate style. Tl>« Muulclpiil Klertlou. As the time for the election ap proaches there are signs of more ac tivity on the part of candidates and their friends, but all are in fine hu mor and there is no evidence visible to make one think the campaign will not be eo conducted to the end, that thie good feeling will continue. There are two candidates. Mr. R. A. Jones and Mr. J. Q. Little, forma'or^ and each of the six wards has public spirited citizens who are willing to assume aldermanic honors. The skirt of this is tucked iu clusters of five, with bards of lace between, and on the foot of the skirt is a graceful graduated flounce, very narrow in front, hu* quite wide in the back The waist ba« a yoke and col- ar of leee, below the yoke the waist is tucked and trimmed with bauds of insertion. The sleeves are tucked and finished with a pufT of lace at ths wrist. New waiite for the summer of 1902 have made their appearance in white pique and lawn. Some are made with very small boxplaiis in back and the } front, while those of lawn are made with insertion, tuck or plaits. Foulard and surah silk; are now shown for the coining season.
