County Hoard of UegiHtrant.
The following citizens have been
appointed registrars of voters for
Cherokee county: J. A Whisonant,
of Antioch, O. E. Tate, of Lawn, and
Harold Gibson, of Gaffney. They are
all worthy of their places and are life
long democrats. Mr. Gibson is quite
an old man and has lived his long life
in what is now Cherokee county. Mr.
Tate is of the Union section of Chero
kee, is one of our most worthy citi-
i.en? and was a gallant Confederate
soldier. He was a member of the 5th
S. C. Y’olunteers, was a courier for
Gen. M. Jenkins and was one of the
most daring soldiers of that famous
brigade. Mr. Whisonant is a young
man of Cherokee township, has served
one term acceptably in the position
before, and now brings to that position
high character and competency.

“Representative Finley has been
informed that Cherokee county, in
his district, will be thoroughly laid
out with rural delivery routes. Tbe
department selected Cherokee because
it was the most densely populated
county in the district.”—Washington
correspondent News and Courier.
From the above we see that Chero
kee county has been selected us. the
first one in the n'b congressional dis
trict to be fuilv supplied with rurai
mail service. Also that Cherokee has
been selected of ail the others because
it is the most densely populated
county in the district. This is a dis
tinction that all Cherokceans should
be proud of, and is high evidence that
her material progress is being recog-
oizod abroad and in high places.

Carroll, Carpenter & Byers
are congratulating themselves on their good fortune in securing Miss
Wilson to take charge of their Millinery department this season.
Miss Wilson ranks with the best Milliners in America, and the
ladies of Gaffney can rest assured that their Millinery for Spring will
be in the hands of an artist when she has it in charge.
As a competitor in the Inaugural Hat Contest last year she won
special mention.
Miss Wilson is not untried in this vicinity, having formerly been
connected with Hill & Morgan, Spartanburg, and having for severaj
seasons trimmed] the Pattern Hats shown by Carroll & Carpenter at
their openings.

You must not be surprised at offers we make. We propose to
make it lively tor the trade and you get the benefit. No doubt
that you’ll find something here to fit your need and every price
will fit your pocket-hook. .Just a half off ou some things, but not

you are -tire to get satisfaction and value in what you huy. The
Rainier Bargains are here. (Jutting figures in a cake walk is one
thing, and cutting a figure in business is another We're cutting

more to your liking than they have been, perhaps.
The coming of March means that we ll haveJLion-Like Weather- «
to start or finish. It means, too, t hat it is safe now to buy spring •
things for we’ll have a lot of lamb-like days, and it is time to be
prepared for them. Don’t let your money go until you get its
value in return. Don’t shove it out even when you have plenty,
for you might just a* well save some for future use. You get a
chance to save on every purchase here. Even if a store sells at
co.-t you might get fooled by dealing there. You see a careless
buyer for a dry goods house could load up with extravagant and
unsuitable stuff that would have to be cleanedjout below cost, and
we declare to the consumer that we worry fully as much and
more over how to buy than over how to sell. But when we see
the crowds in the store every day we know that our efforts have
been appreciated. So now is the time to visit the
