Our New Itrhlge.
We made our first visit to the new
iron bridge a few days ago and found
it all it lias been represented to be,
an up-to-date bridge. The new roads
which its location has made neces
sary are still rough where they have
been made, and a large portion on
she east side of Broad river has to be
trimmed out and graded jet. The
new road seems to have been mainly
well ocated and when finished, with
proper attention, will soon become a
good roan.
Ail these things cost money, but
Cherokee is developing; every for
ward step creates new necessities
which our patriotic Cherokeeacs
promptly meet m their wel known

grasp the next enterprise that comes

Mayor’s Court.
His Honor was confronted by a light
docket Monday morning. There were
only three Sunday sinners and they
had only shown that they appreciated
a little too highly the great benefic
ence of their grand old State, which,
in such a motherly way, puts the bot
tle to the mouths of her affectionate
children. His Honor did not question
their love for old Palmetto mother,
nor did he censure them for it, but
be thought their love for her pop
was inordinate and just allowed the
cash bond of two of them to fall into
the city cash drawers.
The next one appeared in his own
proper person but in an apparent
crippled condition. Ho had bis arm
in a sling and was handling it care
fully and told His Honor it had been
broken. But investigation proved
his injury was received about twelve
years ago. He was considered suffi
ciently recovered to pay two or do
ten. He is doing the ten.

Will) Winter Goods.
There’s pressing need of rrom; we cannot go ahead with our plans for next
season’s business till we clear the counters and shelves. We have thousands of
dollars tied up here in elegant suits and overcoats and must realize a sum of
money for these goods—if only a part of their actual cost at present value. You
know our policy—no half measures; no stopping at trifles. When we say these
goods must go we mean ju*t that.
We have reduced our stock of winter millinery very much and in order to clear
it up before the new goods arrive we will sell anything in winter millinery at just
half price, fifty cents on the dollar.
Warm underwear, hose, gloves, mittens and all cold weather goods at greatly
