hunting Christmas day killed a black

church, tbe Limestone Street Metho
dist church and the First Baptist
church all through Santa Clans re
membered the children of their re
spective congregations. All of each
congregation took part, decorated
their churches and made tbe trees
and mounds resplendent with gifts
for their children The pastors,
Messrs. Bozeman, Cree and Cantey
were all present at their respective
churches and had Santa Claus on
hand to dispense tbe good things to
the dear little ones of their flocks.
The attendance was large in all the
churches. Santa Claus did the hon
ors superbly and long will be the day
before the children of these congre
gations forget Santa’s beneficenc^ and
the general good and happiness of
Christmas-tree day in their churches
in the year of 1901. .

there has been a rainfall of fully five
inches in this section and as a cause-
quenoe tbe streams are very high.
Broad river is nearly as high as it was
last May and Buffalo creek is said by
Mr E H. Bridges to he higher than
it has been since 188G Pacolet and
Thickety are both very high and the
smaller streams are up in proportion
and damage has been done to lands.
A little snow and rain fell yesterday,
but there was an appearance of clear
weather end getting colder.
