of the Season-
It has been decidfifi to offer to the

entertainments of high merit. From
the talent already en^nsjed we can he

ly popular and pleasing entertain
ments which will appeal to every

the very best singers, instrumental
ists and lecturers to be found on the

der to indicate the general excellence
of this course we need to mention
only the artists who will appear at
the first concert: Mary Louise Clary,
John Cheshire and Celia Schiller.
Mary Louise Clary, without doubt
America’s Greatest Contralto, sang
in New York City recently and the
leading critic wrote, “She has a voice
which is not heard thrice in a life
time.” In Chicago she was heard in
the "Messiah,” and “she swayed the
audience, emotionally, at will.
There is a kindliness, bo to speak,
io her singing that wins, independ
ently of the force of art. Her bold
on her hearers is supreme.” In Lou
isville, /‘There was not onewbo did
not enthusiastically endorse the ver
dict of the Eastern press and public,
that Miss Clary is the greatest of all
American contraltos.” And so forth;
she is great.
John Cheshire is England’s most
eminent harpist, and beyond doubt
the greatest harp virtuoso of the day.
“Mr. Cheshire’s reputation is Europ
ean, for he stands on heights which
only genius can reach.” Mr. Ches
hire has played in ail of the princi
pal cities of Europe and America,
and at every appearance has been
greeted with rapturous applause.
Celia Schiller has played the piano
in Washington with “highly artistic
success,” according to the Washing
ton Star. In New Orleans she “cre
ated a furor.” All of these artists
will appear in the Limestone College
Auditorium, Thursday evening, Jan
uary 9. Tickets can be secured at
the college, or of Mrs. Geo. G. Byers,
Mr. Isham Richardson, or Mr. Char
lie Humphries.
