Saturday' morning opened cloudy
with an occasional mist of rain which
very much reduced the usual Satur
day gathering at the capital. Thi-
clouds got heavier and by the middle
of the afternoon the rain began to
fall rapidly and continued so tili
about dark from whicli time till about
ten o’clock wo had tno hardest rain
fall we have had since the big rains
in the spring. Chief Camp, thewoRth-
er reporb'r here, says that 3 20-100
inches fell.
The clouds had passed away bv
11 o’clock Saturday night and the
wind began to come out from the
west. Sunday morning the weather
was quite cold and continued to get
colder through the day and night,
making Monday morning by far the
coldest of the winter with the ther
mometer at 15 degrees above zero in
the shade. The temperature rose |
during the day but Monday night j
was very cold. Yesterday morniog
there was a marked change in the
temperature. The mercury standing
I at 14 above zero.
