Indian Kxposition.
The Southern Railway is making
extensive arrangetner t>* for the forth
coming winter tourist business to
Florida'and other resorts and for the
Charleston Exposition business from
the E-isf, as well as from the North
and West. The winter schedules of
the Southern Railway go into effect
Sunday, November 4th, when it will
be arranged to run trains from New
York and Washington to Florida as
independent trains from those des
tined to the southwest via Atlanta
The New York and Florida Ex
press, Nos 83 and 34, will leave New
York at 3:25 p. m., Washington 9 55
p. m., arriving at Charlotte 8:10 a
m , Columbia 11:30 a. m., Charles
ton, 8. C. 3:20 p. m . Augusta 2:50
p. m., Savannah 5:05 p. m., Jack
sonville 7 .’40 p. m. This train will
carry through sleeper New York to
Tampa. New York to Augusta. New
York to Charleston (effective Dec.
1st) and one a week from New York
to ThoinasvilJe, (effective Jan. 1,
1902) The New York and Florida
F.st Mail will leave New York at
12:15, midnight, and he operated
from Washington in two sections—
one,J No. 29 going, via Washington
Southern Line through Richmond,
leaving We-hington 10:50 a. ru.,
Richmond 2:30 n m And the other
sec-ion, No 35 leaving Washington
11:15 a m., running directly over
the Southern ^Railway to Charlotte;
these trains being united at Char
lotte and runnii g thence to Jackson
ville as No 29 leaving Charlotte

arriving at Charleston 7:00 a. rn ,
Augusta 7 :45 a. in., Savannah 5:50

other trains will be adjusted to suit
all these changes The Southern’s
IVm Limited. Nos. 31 and 32 will go
into service about the middle of Jan
uary, running on schedule practically
the same as last winter. This is a
solid train between New York and
St. Augustine, with sleeping cars for
Aiken and Augusta. Effective No
vember 15th will be operated a
through sleeping car between Kansat-
City and Jacksonville via Frisco
System, Memphis, Birmipgham and
Atlanta to Jacksonville. In addition
to the above, the famous train known
as the Chicago and Florida Special
between Chicago and St. Augustine
will he re-established about the mid
dle of January on practically the
same schedule as last year, affording
through service from Chicago, De
troit, Pittsburg, Cleveland, etc.,
through Cincinnati to St. Augusti/ie.
There is also continued the through
sleeper from Cincinnati to Jackson
ville via Asheville, Columbia and
Savannah. The Cincinnati and Flor
ida Limited has now become an es
tablished all-year-round train, solid
from Cincinnati to Jacksonville, com
posed of sleepers and first-class
coaches, also cafe care. For the
Charleston Exposition there will be
in addition to through sleepers from
New York. Washington. Charlotte
etc., to Charleston through sleeping
car from St. Louis, Louisville, etc.,
.o Charleston and from Greenville, S
0., to Charleston. On all of the
through trains of the Southern Rail
way will be operated the highest
class of dining car service, serving
all meals in the most improved style,
equal if nnt superior to the best ho
tele. Full details of the scrviie
of the Southern Railway will
he announced later. For the
coming season there will he in
augurated, as above outlined, the
most complete and up-to-dale ar
rangement of schedules that has ever
been afforded for the tourist travel.
Each want has been carefully consid
ered and nothing has been left un
done to satiafy it. The Southern is
doing its utmost to encourage tour
ists hikI other travel to the Southern
resorts, whether located on the line
