Il is hoped that the ladies of the
county will take an active part in I
this matter. Cherokee is ooundless
in resources and it is only proper that
we be properly represented at this
exposition.
We can show a more varied coliec- I

forestry than any other county in
the State, and we should let the world
know of our possibilities.
The meeting yesterday was not so
large as it should have been, but it
was thoroughly enthusiastic. Blacks
burg had no representative, unless
Mr. Hambright be considered as rep
resenting Blacksburg when in fact
he is from Ml. Paron ; and as Blacks
burg and vicinity can furnish much
material to make the exhibit comp ete
she should be interested.

The inspectors of stock for the vari
ous districts report that phosphorized
pollard, when carefully laid, is the most
effective means of stamping out the an
imals without injury to stock. It ap
pears. however, that careful supeivi
sioii is necessary in the use of this [mi-
son to produce good results.
Other methods of dealing with tlie
problem, which are not so effectual as j
tlie use of poison, but which have the
advantage of leaving the dead rabbits
in sueii condition as to lie salable, are
trapping, shooting ami hunting with
ferrets or dogs. For comparatively
small inclosures wire netting is without !
doubt tlie best means of dealing with
rabbits, and every year sees an inereas- ,
ing quantity of it being erected. Its i
great expense, however, prevents its j
being applied to large farms or ranges. 1

cellations followed and the makers, anxious to sweep clear, sold us at unusual
prices.
Now you get the benefit of the deal.
