The ledger. [volume] (Gaffney City, S.C.) 1896-1907, October 11, 1901, Image 8
We have just succeeded in Sanding a tre
mendous lot of new things consisting of Shoes,
Clothing, Hats and Dress Goods. Among these
new arrivals are to be found some of the best
vaiues ever offered in the city of Gaffney. All
we ask is a thorough inspection of our large
stock and we will take the chances of making
customers. Coiled up in the lithe words Un-
■der buy and undersell” is the magnet that
draws the throngs to the BATTERY.
Visit the Battery when you will, you will
see more customers than are to be seen in
any other half dozen stores. Why is this?
It is simply because the wideawake and up
to date trading public are always on the look
out for values, and they are always to be found
at the busy Battery.
Our goods come to us direct from the
manufacturers stripped of the middle man’s
profits.
Bedticking as low as 4c per yard. Hickory
Shirtings 5c per yard. Suspenders 5c a pair
and up. Boys’ and Men’s Caps 5c each.
Heavy Outings 4>6c per yard. Blankets from
59c a pair up. Counterpanes from 49c up to
the Marseilles at $1.68. A large lot of under
wear for ladies and gents. The celebrated
Primrose Quill for only $1.25. The half has
not yet been told. Thousands of article* go
for one rusty penny.

CHEROKEE COUNTY

KxpoHition.
The South Atlautie amt West India
Exposition will open in Charleston
about seven weeks lienee, at which it
is expected that South Carolina will
have the finest collection of her pro
ducts and resources that has ever
been collected in one place. South
Carolina is rich in products, active
and latent resources, all claiming
their places in this grand exhibition
in Charleston. Other counties are
actively at work getting together
everything in them and placing them
in proper condition to fittingly repre
sent them in Charleston, and to show
to the world what they have done
and what they are capable of doing.
Now what has Cherokee done? We
answer, nothing. She is content to
rush along in her strenuous"work at
home as if she thought the world
would come in some time and inspect
her splendidly tilled fi Ids, her un
limited mineral resources and unex
celled water powers. Yes. to see her
magnificent cotton, oil and carpet
mills, fuumirys, machine shops, gin
neries, knitting and grain mills. But
the world is noc earing! Cherokee,
like other counties, will have to meet
the world on the half-way ground,
and Charleston is aff >rding her the
h'st opportunity for tnis meeting she
has ever had. Cherokee cannot af
ford to lose this fortunate chance.
She must have an exhibit at, Charles
ton, and to have it her people must
go to work at once, and as one man.
Let the men begin work to-day, and .... , .
