C Foster arrived in the city yesterday morning in advance of the show to make the proper arrange ments for its appearance today. Mr. Foster came to I'm* Ledger > dice with a letter of introduction to the manager. He is a clever gentleman and does I business in u business-like manner. He brought the pleasing intelligence that Mr. John Lowlow, the world’s most famous j-ster, is with the cir cus. Mr. Lowlow is advanced in years, but his love for the Saw dus’ ' ring and the gaudy attired female equestrian is so strong that he clings to his old io*e with th* tenacity of an i octopus. H’e remember him as he u-el to appear with Wm. Ashe in the old original John Robinson. He was then the admiration of our youthful mind and later contacLwith him has tend'd to increase that admiration. We wish him many more years of life, for while he has been the jeater to American millions he has not lived entirely in vain. The circus has been handed down from sire to son until now it is in the hands of a worthy grandson. Mr. John G Robinson, whose delight it is to please the multitude. Bozeman, of Yorkville, * occupied the pulpit of the Cherokee i Avenue Baptist Church last Saturday and Sunday nights. Mr. Bozeman is a pleasant gentleman and his two ex cellent discourses were* listened to by large and attentive congregations Mr Bozeman stayed over in the city until today, he having quite a number I of friends here, all of whom are al ways glad to have him come over, and : it makes it tiuite difficult for him to get away in a hurry The Ledger hopes that we may some day number him among our residents. Dr. George W. Wharton, Cruso. N. C., occupied the pulpit of the Chero- 1 kee Avenue Baptist Church Sunday morning at 11 and Sunday afternoon at 4. Henry Ross, who will conduct the business in the future. The transfer took place this morning.
