The Giiflney (Jurpet Manufacturing
Company, in vice. - of some business
changes, has decided to discontinue
ita branch in Charlotte, X. C., which
has been in operation for a year or
more under the name of the Charlotte
Carpet Company, with Mr. Harry JL.
Klierbe as manager.
Mr. Samuel Reid, book-keeper for
the Gaffney mill, and Mr. A. C. Prid
more, one of the traveling salesmen,
are now in Charlotte closing uu the
business of the concern, and the
u sold stock will be shipped back to
Gaffney.
The Charlotte X'ews, in speaking of
the intended close, says:
“The company has been in busi
ness in Charlotte about u year. It
has at all times, carried a beautiful
line and has done a good business.
Owing to some business changes, it
was deemed the best policy to discon
tinue the Charlotte store.”
The following is a later notice from
the Charlotte Observer:
“The store of the Charlotte Carpet
Manufacturing Company, on North
Tryon street, which has been in
operation here for a year as a branch
of the Gaffney, o. C., Manufacturing
Company, will close its doors and
ship all unsold stock back to Gaffney.
This announcement whs made yester
day by Mr. H. L. Elierbe, manager
of the local branch.
It is reliably stated that the carpet
store has made money since its loca
tion in Charlotte; and no reason is
offered for the closure of business
