One of the prettiest home weddings that it has ever been the good for tune of any of our people to see was solemnized Wednesday morning at the lovely and elegant home of Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Sarratt, on Depot street, when Mr. John C. Swygert, Jr., of Peaks, led to the altar Miss Olive, their oldest daughter. The marriage ceremonj’ was per formed by Rev. B. P. Robertson, it] his usual impressive manner, in the presence of only a very select few of the relatives and young friends of tho bride and groom, who had assembled by special invitation to witness the consummation of a happy courtship Ju.-.t as the hands of the clock marked the hour of ten Rev. Robert son entered the lovely parior follow ed by the bride and groom who marched in to the enchanting strains of the wedding march played by Miss Minnie Carroll, and took their stand under a beautiful arch made of drapery near the large and handsome bay window. The minister then faced them and in a few and well- chosen words he pronounced them husband and wife. The bride was extremely lovely in a tailor-made gown of rich dark- brown, with hat and gloves to match, while in her hand she carried a beau tiful bouquet of white carnations and maiden-hair ferns. The groom was stately and handsome in a dark- brown suit, with gloves to match, and all in all, it was a couple that wciuld excite the admiration of any beholder, and a happier looking one would be hard to imagine. The bride is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John I. Sarratt. She was one of the most popular young ladies in the city, a favorite in soci ety and was ever a conspicuous figure in all of the social gatherings in the city. Tier personal charms inspired admiration in all eyes, and her grace of manner, loving disposition and many noble qualities of heart and mind won for her the close friendship of her associates. The groom is a popular young man, and from a prominent family, of Peaks. Ho was for some time employed in the National Bank at this place, and, consequently, is well known and liked by the people of GulTney. He is the possessor of many noble traits and fine business ability; he is in dustrious, efficient, and has a bright future before him. Tho bridal couple left on the southbound vestibule Wednesday morning amid a shower of rice, old slippers and good wishes. They will spend some time in Tampa, Fla., and then return to Peaks. It is thought by some that they will lo cate in Ruurens whjle others think it probable that they may make Gaffney their home for awhile. No young couple ever started out in wedded life under more favorable auspices, nor with more good wishes speeding after them, and The Ledger hopes that they may realise to the fullest extent ail the happiness that fancy has painted to them in their fondest duy-dreams of the future. Rush Sarratt, son of Mr. Non A Sarratt, who lives a few miles above Gaffney, met with an accident yes terday whi".h cost him his life. The facts of the tragic event, so far as we could learn, are about as follows : A number of hoys were out hunting yesterday on Broad river, and Hush was with thorn. They got in a boat preparatory to crossing the river, when one of them asked Kush, who was still on the bank, to hand him iiis gun which was leaning against u tree close by. Rush took up the gun, holding it by the barrel, and eg he handed it to the boy In the boat the hammer struck against the side of the boat and the gun was dir- uharged. the entire load entering the boy's body end killing him almost instantly. It seems that none of the boys could tell exactly how It hap pened; but this Is the supposition. Rush was just eleven years old, and his tragic d* ath is deeply lamented.
