Dry Goods, Etc. Grocerios, Etc.
General Merchandise.
Ever since we hiivo been dolnr? business we have been selling goods cheaper than
any other store In Gaffney. We have no monopoly on the method; own no patent on
the principles that enable us to take the lead In this respect. We secure worthy goods
In vast <iuanlltles at the lowest cash rates, and sell uulekly, on the smallest margin of
profit. Any dealer In the world could do the same. Hut the hindrance to our method
Isdng emulated Is the fascinating temptation to make excessive profits. Most mer
chants yield to that lure. Wo never do. Hence our success. The reason of our being
always busy. Claims of selling cheaper are hollow unless fortified by solid argu
ments that establish facts. Broad exaggerations flow rlpplngly from many sources.
We could write with the same facile grace, but crediting the public with Intelligem e,
we prefer to print simple statements and hack them with logical reasons. For in

Pharmacy’s Evolution,
There was a time when colored globes in the windows, musty
shelves and dusty bottles, cobwebs and gloom, with a bit of drugs
mixed in, represented a drug store. This has been changed by
the brightening process—bright fixtures and apartments, glisten
ing bottles and cases, fresh assortments of patent remedies and
lots of drugs. This latter is mostly the drug store of to-day.
The up-to-date in pharmacy is expressed in
The Cherokee Drug Co.
You can’t be too Careful
with your doctors’ prescriptions. It is important that they be
filled exactly as directed. There is no drug store in the city
where more correct attention is given prescriptions than in our
prescription department. We also make a special effort to ac
commodate those who frequently require them quickly. We
have a boy to call and deliver prescriptions any place in the city.
Telephone orders given special attention.

OPERA HOUSE TONIGHT.
A I'nlqno and Elaborate Entertainment for
Fun Lover*.
At the opera house tonight there
will be a oerforraance given that
will be unique in the annals of theat
ricals in Gaffney. Two and a half
hours of continuous vaudeville, an
assimilation of melody, mirth and
madness, perpetuated for laughing
purposes only. The programme em
braces dancing, singing, wrestling,
sparring, cake walking, skirt dancing,
music, and other features. The
buck and wing dancers of the South
will appear; don't fail to see the
dusky belles and beaus in the sensa
tion of the hour, a genuine cake
walk, done in “rag time.” Signos
Camelleri the famous prestidigitateur,
will mystify all with his art, which
seems truly magic. Sensational
skirt dancing. The Marvel Bros,
Black Joe comedians will appear in
a melange of melody and wit. Miss
Pearl, a clever soubrette, late of the
support of the Black Patti, is one of
the most popular numbers of the
programme. See her great buck
dancing. Wrestling the by the
best pair of wrestlers in this section.
There will be a number of sparring
matches, three rounds, between the
Black Midget, three rounds between
the Chanticleer Bros., three rounds
between the good local light weights,
and several others, including the
wind up of ten rounds in full ring
costume, on their merits,between the
professional boxers, Jack Gardner, of
Omaha, and Jimmy Hatfield, of
.ouisville. The ring records of this
3air were published in The Ledger
;wo weeks ago. This will be an in
tensely interesting go, and any one
who admires a display of skill,
strength and real fistic science, should
not miss seeing this bout. Music by
the Parkway Orchestra, also slavery
time music.
Doors open at 8 o’clock p. m., per-
ormance at 8:80 p. m.
The Minstrel* Tuesday Night.
The Davis Brothers minstrels played
to a very good house Tuesday night
and all who greeted the attraction
were amused and enjoyably enter
tained by the performance. They
gave two street parades in the after
noon, despite the rain and mud, and
made a good appearance.
This is a good, clean minstrel show
andjhas many excellent features which
make it one among the best all negro
organizations on the road. It came
very near fulfilling our predictions
of what it would be; the perform
ance was clever and creditable, and
all we have beard speak of it said
they got the worth of their money.
It was certainly worth the price of
admission.

Blood TronMes:
As the blood contains all the elements necessary to anstain life, it Is impor
tant that it be kept free of all impurities, or it becomes a source of disease,
poisoning instead of nourishing the body, and loss of health is sure to follow.
Some poisons enter the blood from without, through the skin by absorption, or
inoculation ; others from within, as when waste products accumulate in the
system and ferment, allowing disease germs to develop and be taken into the
circulation. While all blood tro

A SHOCKING OCCURRENCE.
A Child Ha* It* Kye Put Out by Kxplo.
•Ion of Soda Water Uottle.
The two years old child of Mr. and
Mrs. Z. A. Robertson, who live near
the carpet tnili, was very painfully
and seriously hurt in a peculiar man
ner Wednesday afternoon.
While the little fellow was pitying
with a bottle of soda water the bottle
exploded and put out one of its eyes,
and its face was otherwise cut by
pieces of the glass. A phyiician was
immediately summoned and the
wounds were dressed and the little
sufferer was made as comfortable as
possible under the circumstances
Misfortune seems to follow close
upon the footsteps of this same
child, as it has not been very long
since it swallowed some carbolic acid,
which burned its throat severely and
came very near causing its death;
and now this recent accident has dis
figured it for life.
Mr. and Mrs. Robertson have the
sympathy of the entire city in this
their second affliction during the
past few months; and we sincerely
hope that the little sufferer may soon
recover.
