Yes, August. Flower still had the
largest sale of any medicine in the
civilized world. Your mothers’ and
grandmothers’ never thought of using
anything else for Indigestion or Bil

they seldom heard of Appendicitis,
Nervous Trostration, Heart Failure,

clean out thq, system and stop fer
mentation of undigested food, regu

the nervous and organic action of the

when feeling dull and bad with

WEDDING BELLS AGAIN.
SHORT LOCAL ITEMS.
Mr. Sam Rel'J AVedn a riilhidelphla Lady
and IlrlnKN Her to Gaffney.
Our readers will remember that
some time ago we stated that our
young friend, Mr. 8am Reid, had
gone to Philadelphia to take unto
himself a life partner in the form of
one of the (2 aal4er City's fair young
maidens. Our statement proved to be
correct, and the ceremony was per
formed last week which joined to
gether for all time to come the lives
of Mr. Samuel 8. RMd and Miss Jen
nie McConnell. We regret that we
cannot give a full description of this
the most sacred and impressive event
that will ever cross the pathway of
this popular and joyous young couple,
but, owing to a lack of imformution,
we are unable to do so.
Mr. and Mrs. R. id arrived in the
city the last of the week and
are now occupying rooms at the
Commercial Hotel. Owing to Mr.
Reid’s work aceainuiaving during his
absence ho has not had tno oponr-
tunity to be at home to Isis friends in
the city, but he hopes that in :i hhort.
time he may be in a pi/sition to re- j
ceive their congratulations and to i
formally present them to Mrs. R id
As everyone hero knows, Mr Reid
is the courteous and very *.fli dent
bookkeeper for the Gaffney Carpet
Manufacturing Company and enj iys
tiie highest confidence and warmest
esteem of his employers and his as
sistants. He is a clever, Jaffablo, j
genial and sunny spirited young gen
tleman who, l>y his courtly Le aring
and true gentlemanly deportment,
has formed many personal friends
and exalted himself to a high place
in the estimation of our people, all
of whom will wish fer him all the
happiness that this life can afford.
The bride is one of Philadelphia’s
loveliest and most amiable women.
She is a lady of superb culture and
the highest social position, and is
the happy possessor of all the virtues
that impart such a charm to a true,
noble woman. We are delighted to
have her in our midst and extend to
her a most sincere and hearty wel
come.
These loving young people,who are
just now in the glow of youth and
hope which invests their lives in a
halo of happiness, have our best
wishes for a bright and prosperous
future. May their married life be a
garden where no weeds mingle with
the flowers, but where all is beautiful
and lovely to the sense.

Tuesday night at the residence of
W. 8. Gossett on Limestone street.
Robert Poole and Miss Edna Byars

The groom is the popular and cour
teous salesman at L. W. McGuinn’s
market, and is a worthy young man
with many sterling qualities. The
bride is a daughter of Mr. John
Byars, and she possesses many per-
soiul charms and many amiable
qualities both of heart and mind,
'ihey both have a large circle of
friends who wish them well in the
new life which they have entered.

A cheap remedy for coughs and
colds is all right, but you want some
thing that will relieve and cure the
most severe and dangerous results of
throat and lung troubles. What
shall you do? Go to a warmer and

ble; if not possible for you, then in
either case take the only remedy that
has been introduced in all civilized
countries with success in severa
throat and lung troubles, “Boscheo’s

Pe-ru-na Made Them Strong and Happy
Women everywhere are writing Dr.
Hartman concerning the ailments pecu
liar to their sex. The two following
letters, published by the consent of the
writers are specimens. No wonder these
ladies are enthusiastic. They had been
sick a long time. Their cure was un
expected. The first one, Mrs. King, of
North Carolina, writes: “ I was afflicted
for twenty years and did not know what
ailed me. My husband employed three
doctors, but they did me no good. I took
different kinds of medicine, all to no
effect. In 1895 a friend told mo I had
catarrh. I had a bad cough and running
at tho nose all the time. I was advised
# Mrs. M. M. King, Waterloo, X. C.
to try Fe-ru-na and I took four bottles.
I am now well of the catarrh. I believe
Pe-ru-na saved my life. Tho doctors
and all others r.ailed. I can recommend
your Pe-ru-na to all my friends. It is
the best medicine in the world. You
may u»e my name whenever you
please.”—Mrs. M. M. King.
Mary F. Bartholomew, of St.Francls-
ville, 111., says: “About twelve years ago
I was afflicted with female trouble (pel
vic catarrh.) I doctored with several
skillful physicians, but kept getting
worse until I became bedfast. I re
mained in this condition about two
years, under the attendance of four
physicians.
“I concluded I would write Dr. Hart
man for advice. I owe my life to Dr.
Hartman and Pe-ru-na. My friends and
neighbors never expected to se<- jno well
again. I am now able to assist with my
household duties. I think my recovery
is a surprise to
every one who
knew me. My
appetite was so
poor I could eat
scarcely any
thing; but I can
eat any and
everything now
without pain. I
cannot recom
mend your medi
cines enough.”
Catarrh is the
bane of womankind. Nearly every case
of so called female complaint is due to
catarrh of the pelvic organs. A woman
free from catarrh is generally a well
woman. Catarrh of the pelvic organs
makes more women miserable than all
other diseases combined. a
