The excursion to Shelby Sunday
curried about one hundred and fifty
people to Shelby to hear th<y Rev.
Clarence Dixon. Mr. Dixon preached
three excellent sermons but spoiled
the effects of them by his reference
to the political issues that are now
prominent in the Old North State,
lie has been in New York long
enough to become Republicanized
and his sentiments were averse to
the constitutional amendment, the
prominent feature of the campaign
in North Carolina this year. Mr.
Dixon has evidently forgotten what
he ever knew about the colored
man in politics or he would not op
pose what is to the very best interest
of both races.
The crowd was orderly and came
home well pleased with the day’s
outing.
