the Day In tiafluey.
Make your preparations to take
paft in the festivities on the “Glori
ous Fourth,” for we are going to have
a magnificent display of interesting
things on that day. Many new ad
ditions have been made to the grand
floral parade and other features of
the occasion, and enthusiasm has al
most reached its climax now that
the all important day is so near.
Leave all your cares and worries at
home and come out and enjoy your
self as you have never enjoyed life
before. Nature demands that we
have some pleasure in this world,
and every man, no matter what his
business may be nor what position he
may occupy, can afford to “take a
day olT” at least once in a year, and
give himself up to rest, recreation
ami enjoyment.
Let everybody come—male and fe
male, old and young—the program is
varied and extensive and there will
be something to please everyone who
attends. The managers and promo
ters of the celebration have spared
neither pains rroi - expense toward
making it eclipse all others in magni
tude and splendor; they are indefati
gable in their efforts to have every
feature up to the highest point of
beauty and excellence, and every one
who remains away will never cease
to regret it.
A magnificent program that will
last from U a. in, until midnight has
been arranged by the committee and
everything that possibly could be
done by the committee to make the
celebration a success has been accom
plished.
A feature that will in all proba
bility be added to the parade will be
a number of floats representing the
various business interests of the city.
Already the Gaffney Carpet Manu
facturing Company, John W. Bridges,
A. 13. Gaines and the iSmiib Hard
ware Co., have signified their willing
ness to prepare floats for the occa
sion.
It has been suggested by a lady in
terested in the celebration that a
number of ladies and gentlemen rid
ing horseback in the parade would
add to its attractiveness. Huppose
some of the young ladies and gentle
men get together and form a company
to ride horseback, decorating their
horses with a floral wreath around
the horses neck.
Messrs. J. P. Shuford and Charley
Elam have signified their willingness
to enter the tournament.
The Itocs Hill Camp, Woodmen of
the World, three hnmjred strong,
have been Invited to hold their an
nual picnic here on the Fourth and it
is expected that they will accept the
invitation.
The following gentlemen will act
as the judges of all contests on the
Fourth: J. A. Carroll, W. H. Good
ing and W. H. Ross. Mr. Oscar
Wood will be the cflieial time-keeper.
A number of young ladies have in
terested themselves in behalf of the
base ball team and will give a lawn
party tonight at Urn park near the
court house. Ice cream, oake, etc.,
will be served. Everybody is invited
to go out and help the cause along.
The reel teams will practice at the
plug near the park, thus giving those
who go to the entertainment an op
portunity to witness their practice.
In case the weather should prove
inclement the ice cream supper will
be served at the Hall of the Munici
pal League, Mr. John Lipscomb hav
ing kindly donated tho use of the
hull for that purpose.

a line specimen from a good field.
Two more blooms were brought in
yesterday; one by Henry Jefferies,
