TOO SHORT FOR A HEAD
The Fair Closing* Out
We will sell everything at cost ' : or just one more
week. Saturday, June i6, wiil be our iasi day m
Gaffney and your last opportunity to buy Dry
Goods, Glothing and Shoes at cost.
We are going to quit business on the above date
and are selling out at cost for that purpose. No
profit is added on anything on any account what
ever, but everything goes at cost.
No such bargains were ever seen in Gaffney and
will not be again, for while there are many reduc
tion sales of various kinds there are few OOSS'i'
sales, because merchants cannot make money on
cost sales. They only occur on such occasions as
this, when people are going out of business and
want to convert their stock into money.
We still have a splendid stock to select from
and can suit everybody. Remember this is the
last chance, as we close June 16.

SCROFULA The Blighting
Disease of
Heredity.
{
lu many respects Scrofula and Consumption are alike ; they develop from the same gen
eral causes, both are hereditary and dejjeudent upon an impure and im-
povished blood supply. In const: nption the disease faktcns itseif upon
the lungs ; in Scrofula the glands of the neck and throat swell and suppurate, causing ugly running sot s;
the eyes arc inflamed and weak ; there is an almost continual discharge from the • ars, the limbs swell,
bones ache, and white swelling is freouentb a result, causing the diseased 1 rones to work out through
t - the skin, producing indescribable pain and suffering. Cutting away a sore or diseased gland does no
good ; the blood is poisoned. The old scrofulous taint which has probably come down through several
/ *' /, generations has polluted every drop of blood.
•V ;, * v 4 Scrofula requires vigorous, ]«rsistent treatment. The blood must ire brought back to a healthy
{ j 'M j ’ \ condition before the terrible disease can be stopped in its w rk of dcstnicti ,n. Mercury, jKrtash and
\ otlu r poisonous minerals usually gi\ en in such cases do more harm than rood ; they ruin the digestion
and leave the system in a worse aondition than before.
S. S. S. D tlie* only medicine that can reach deep-seated blood troubles like Scrofula. It goes down to the very roots of
the disease ar. ! inns every vestige of poison out of the blood. S. S. S is the only purely vegetebk blood purifier known,

WE WILL CELEBRATE.
i’lil,lie- Spirited CUixc-nn Dc-cldr J'liat The
J'mirth ust he OhHerved.
Since the announcement in Tues
day’s Ledger of the fact that the
committee having in charge the mat
ter of soliciting funds for the Eourtli
of July celebration had decided not
to celebrate on account of the very
iiigga , ‘itly manner in wh'ch some of
these approached subscribed to the
fund there has been a good deal of
discussion on tbe subject, the result
of which is that several enterprising
citizens have tak< n upon themselves
the task of getting up a celebration
for that day. it seems that tbe
trouble with the former committee
was that they wanted too much of a
celebration and were not satisfied
with celebrating on what they could
get. The new committee have
decided to cut their garment ac
cording to the cloth they have on
hand and will eliminate some of the
costly features planned by tlie former.
It is proposed to have a game of bull,
a lot of races, including bicycle races,
pot aloe races, sack races, catching
the greasy pig by the boys, catching
the lamb by tbe little girls, etc., and
have a day of general sport for the
amusement of the citizens generally
and the children in particular. A
string bund lias been engaged to fur
nish the music for the occasion.
Let i verj body prepare for a general
good t ime on tbe Fourth. There will
bt refreshment stands on the ground
and plenty oi amusements to last the
entire day.
