Tbe object of the meeting was stated and on motion of Mayor Littlejohn Ed. H. DeCamp was made perma nent chairman. Hugo 8. Dodenhoil was elected secretary. It did not take long to ascertain that those present were unanimously in favor of observing the day. After a little general discussion it was determined that the proper committees be se lected and work begun at once. By the hoary co-operation of all, it i» proposed to make this cr h bration the grandest success, financially and educationally, of any event enr held in Gaffney. Among the amusements will be horse, bicycle and reel races, base ball ui d all kinds of athletic games. A number of cuoli prizes will be* given. Leading Southern orators and states men have been invited to address the people that day. A grout barbecue will probably be one of the events. Fire works that eve i ing and a b:t!i ut. night will b'.- given by the members of Hie <laffney Club. Fourth of July railroad rates will be secured for the event. Begin to make preparations now for we want this to pe Cherokee's gala day and we want nil our neigh bors—Spartanburg. Union, York, Gaston and Cleveland counties—to come over and mingle with us. Richards, the hustling laud and industrial agent of the Southern railway, is getting up cx- hibits for fairs ut the North, for the purpose of calling attention to the resources and possibilities of the South. In a letter to the Dodenhoil A Darby Real Estate Agency he w rites as follows : We will make an exhibit at several fairs in the uothern stales this fall of products from the country through which life Southern Pailway passes. As this is an enterprise of mutual j uivst wo earnestly’ solicit your co operation. Will you not furnish us specimens of grains, wheat, rye, cats, barley and grasses (in the straw) grown in your neighborhood? They should be gathered before they are ready for harvesting and cured in the shade. 8uch samples require careful packing for shipment—they will not keep in good condition if forwarded loose. Please corrsign your contribu tions to me here by Southern express and the express charges will be set- tied upon Arrival. We hope you can send us a large, carefuily selected, bundle of each kind, for which we thank you in ad vance. Let us know what we may expect. Messrs. Dodenhoil & Darby will re- ciive and forward all such samples as furnished free of all charges to the growers. This is an opportunity to get the grain and grass products of Cherokee county well before prospec tive homo-seekers of the North, so they can see what can be profitably produced. Again the skin is dry, hard and fissured, itches intensely, bleeds and scabs over. This is a painful ami stubborn form of the disease. While Eczema, Tetter, Erysipelas, Salt Rheum and many like troubles are spoken of as diseases of the skin, they are really blood diseases, because THERE CAN BE HO EXTERNAL IRRITATION WITHOUT AN INTERNAL CAUSE.
