Those who know
this store know we do what we say we do, and if at any
time you fail to get goods as advertised, or purchases are in any
way unsatisfactory, it is not intentional. Somewhere there is a
mistake, and we ask you to please report the matter, and it will
give us pleasure to “make things right.”
A ' " saved
is the same as a dollar made, but you’ll find it more
than that if you’ve never had any experience with our shoes.
For isn’t the very best kind of shoe comfort and satisfaction even
Wurth more than money saving ?
Poor Flour
means a great loss to the user. It means bad, sour
bread, sad cake, and is a trial to the temper of the good house
wife. Our brands of Hour have been tried and proven. They
are uniform in quality, and in baking one can tell just how to
use it.

Many farmers' teams came to the
city yesterday loaded with wood, and
from the lumber mills sections they
brought lumber which our builders
were needing.
We saw Mr. Will Young, of All
good, bring in a load of fodder from
his farm yesterday, which must have
contained SOU or 10(Hj bundles. The
bundles were large, well cured and
showed they had been well handled.
A number of Cherokee’s old soldiers
and widows of other heroes long since
gone, have been in the city this week
receiving the pittance which the
stale allows them in their old age.
They say the amount gets smaller
every year.
Gaffney representatives in Char
lotte have nearly ail returned and
with one accord are full of praises for
the old city, the success of every
feature of her independence day
celebration and the hospitality of her
people.
1'rof. Wade R. Brown director of
Limestone College sciiool of music,
has been appointed by .Superinten
dent of Education McMahan, to have
charge of the music department of
the State summer school at Win-

The number of farmers in the city
yesterday was evidence that the
ground was too wet to plow. They
were in a bright cheerful mood and
dilating on tne good effects of the
rain on the different plants. All say
the wheat crop is line.
The light lingered gentry is report
ed to have done an encouraging busi
ness at the Charlotte celebration and
included among their victims, that
we have heard of, one citizen of
Gaffney and one who lives near by in
the county.
Wednesday morning clouds began
to gather and give signs of an ap
proaching rain and bj the middle of
the afternoon it was falling gently
and continued until late in the night.
Rain has fallen in abundance for the
present and it will be of untold bene-
iit to growing crops and to such as
have not come up yet.

Mrs. Margaret Davis, wife of Mr.

city on the 22nd instant, after only
a few days of illness, and was buried
in the family lot in Limestone ceme

Mrs. Davis was one of our best
women. She was a consistent mem

every day life bore evidence t of her
piety. She was a devoted Wife and
mother with all the characteristics to
endear her to her bereaved husband
and her two young children, and a
neighbor and friend whose place will
be bard to fill in her large circle of
friends.
The funeral services were con
ducted in the Presbyterian church by
Rev. B. P. Robertson, assisted by
Rev. G. E. Robertson. The pall
bearers were Dr. (’. T. Lipscomb,
Elmore Leniaster, Dr. J. F. Garrett,

CATARRH:
FORERUNNER OF
CONSUMPTION.
Few realize what a deep-seated, obstinate disease Catarrh is, regarding it as a simple inflammation ©f
the nose and throat, little or no attention is given it. Hut, however insignificant it may seem at first, it
is serious and far-reaching in its results.
The foul secretions entering the circulation poison the entire system. The stomach, kidneys—in
fact all the organs — feel the effect of this catarrhal poison, and when the lungs arc reached its progress
is rapid and destructive, and finally ends in consumption.
It frequently happens that the senses of hearing and smell an- in part or entirely lost, the soft hones of
gwy /iOSf. jji fbe nose eaten into and destroyed, causing intense suffering and greatly disfiguring the face. While sprays,
ViPt f washes and salves may give temporary relief, no permanent benefit can be expected from such treatment.
COTAftei IS A OK B1000 DISEASE,
and far beyond the reach of mere local remedies. Those who rely upon them for a cure lose valuable time, meet with disap
pointment and allow the disease to take firmer hold. Only areal blood remedy can reach this troublesome and dangerous disease.
S. S. S cures Catarrh because it first cleanses and builds up the blood, purines it, makes it rich and healthy, stimulates and
puts new life into the sluggish worn-out organs, and thus relieves the system of all poisonous accumulations.
Mrs. Josephine i'oliiill, of Due West, S. C., wiites: “ I h.id CutiYrrl. which became so ffetp-
rer.teil thiU I was entirely deaf in one ear, raid all inside of mv no ■■. in lading ©art of the r.om-

seat of the disease, and after a few weeks’ treatment 1 was entirely cured, aud for in re than
seven years have had no sign of the disease.” _.
S. (•. S. is made of roots, herbs aud harks of wonderful tonical and purifying
properties, il is the only vegetable blood purifier known, and a certain and safe
cure for all blood troubles. Send for our Jiook on Blood and Skin Diseases, and at
the same lime write our physicians about your case. They will cheerfully give you
any information or advice wanted. We make no charge for this.
